摘要： A fixing device that fixes an image on a recording medium includes a rotatable endless belt, deployed in a loop supported by rollers, a nip forming member provided inside the loop formed by the belt, a support member that supports the nip forming member, a counter rotation body disposed outside the loop formed by the belt and configured to form a nip with the belt by being in contact with the nip forming member through the belt, and a heat source configured to heat the belt directly by a radiant heat except at the nip. The support member includes a base portion that contacts the nip forming member and two arms extending from the base portion in a direction away from the nip forming member to partially surround a part of heat generating portion of the heat source.

摘要： A fixing device for fixing an image on a recording medium includes an endless fixing rotary member which is formed into a loop and comes into contact with the image on the recording medium, an opposed rotary member which is in contact with the fixing rotary member, a nip forming member provided inside the loop of the fixing rotary member to be in contact with the opposed rotary member via the fixing rotary member to form a nip portion to which the recording medium is fed in a feeding direction, a support member which supports the nip forming member, and a heating source which heats the fixing rotary member. The nip forming member includes a downstream portion extending downstream in the feeding direction from a center of the nip portion and an upstream portion extending upstream in the feeding direction from the center and longer than the downstream portion.

This head comprises (a) a light source for emitting a light beam to be irradiated to an optical recording medium as an incident light beam; (b) a hologram element for receiving a reflected light beam generated by reflection of the incident light beam on the medium to generate at least two diffracted light beams for focusing error detection and at least two diffracted light beams for tracking error detection; and (c) an optical detector for detecting the at lease two diffracted light beams for focusing error detection and the at least two diffracted light beams for tracking error detection; the detector including a first receiving surface for receiving the at least two diffracted light beams for focusing error detection and a second detection surface for receiving the at least two diffracted light beams for tracking error detection; each of the first and second receiving surfaces being divided into receiving regions; the at least two diffracted light beams for focusing error detection being received at the receiving regions of the first receiving surface; the at least two diffracted light beams for tracking error detection being received at the receiving regions of the second receiving surface.

摘要： A fixing apparatus comprises a transfer unit that obtains a visible image from an electrostatic latent image formed on a latent image bearing body using a developer and transfers the visible image onto a medium, and a fixing roller and a pressure roller, positioned opposite to each other with a transfer pass for the medium therebetween, that fix the visible image on the medium. The developer contains a toner having a volume mean grain size of from 5 to 10 micrometers and a grain size not larger than 5 micrometers accounting for 60 through 80 number percent. The surface resistivity of the pressure roller is between 1×107 through 1×1010 &OHgr;/square.
