Abstract:
A tree chipper capable of reducing standing trees to chips has a rotating chipper, a feed mechanism for feeding trees into the chipper and a saw or the like for severing the trees. The tree chipper may comprise a boom that can be moved to position the tree chipper against a tree to be cut and chipped. In embodiments, the rotating chipper comprises a disc having chipping teeth on a face, a generally cylindrical chipper body having chipping teeth on an outer surface thereof and a conical chipper body.
Abstract:
Apparatuses, systems, and methods for transporting logs through a debarker are shown and described. The disclosed embodiments of roller assemblies can be used for quickly and conveniently moving logs along a processing line. Some disclosed embodiments include fluted rollers that carry replaceable inserts. The inserts can protect the logs and the rigid flutes of the roller. The insert can be made of a wear resistant material for a prolonged life. A worn insert can be replaced with another insert to ensure proper functioning of the roller assemblies.
Abstract:
A flexible mounting system principally developped for ring-type log debarkers comprises a combination of freely oscillating supporting links and weight compensating pneumatic devices, arranged in such a way as to allow the working tool assembly of the debarker to move in any direction in response to external forces exerted upon it by the longitudinal feed motion or the shape irregularities of the log.
Abstract:
An infeed chute for a debarking drum is provided which is adapted to accommodate infeed from two log cranes simultaneously or nearly simultaneously. The chute has a central feed plate of relatively small width and trough plates of relatively great width and at a gentle slope, thereby to provide a smoothly and slightly inclined trough. Furthermore, wing plates are provided which not only define containing side walls but continue and extend the trough width to receive a plurality of log loads and yet smoothly guide the same towards a common inlet. Desirably, to accommodate the gentle slope and increased width of the chute assembly, three transition plates are provided adjacent the debarker inlet to round out the flow thereinto.
