    摘要: A pivotal feed head for feeding non-rigid paper sheets individually from a feed hopper to a photo-optical utilization station at high speed without interruption, overlap or collision between sheets including oppositely disposed members for applying a normal force between an enlarged resilient tired feed wheel adapted for unidirectional rotation and a conjointly movable, engageable retard roller. The feed head is mounted for pivotal movement about an outboard drive member. A frictional brake for the retard roller is adjustable to provide a preset load at the nip between the feed wheel and the retard roller while a solenoid-actuated one-way clutch operably engages the feed wheel mounting shaft for incremental signal controlled paper feed. A vertical, signal-controlled latching member locks the feed head in a vertical pivoted position at the end of the vertical upward movement of the paper stack platform as the paper is fed into the nip between the feed wheel and the retard roller.

    摘要: Disclosed herein is an auxiliary device for successively stripping sheets of paper from a paper stack piece by piece. The device comprises a backplate in contact with a side surface of the paper stack and a plurality of flexible stripping members. The base portions of the stripping members are secured to the backplate while the forward ends of the same extend beyond the paper stack and have an inwardly facing curvature. The device further includes elastic members in contact with the outer surfaces of the stripping members. The elastic members have in the forward ends thereof means for urging the forward ends of the stripping members in a direction towards the paper stack.

    摘要: A high speed sheet-material separating and feeder system is disclosed which handles a wide range of mixed thicknesses and sizes of envelopes and sheets. The sheets are stacked at one end of the system, and are fed to a dual separator mechanism having two separator members. The dual separator mechanism has a first separator member which is adjusted for thicker sheets of the range, and a second separator member which is adjusted for thinner sheets of the range. Sheets leaving the dual separator are ejected one at a time, in seriatim, where they then can be fed to other sheet handling equipment for processing.

    摘要: A high speed, vacuum-controlled sheet-material separating and feeder system is disclosed which handles a wide range of mixed thicknesses and sizes of envelopes and sheets. The vacuum feeding of this system reduces frictional wear on the feed and separating rollers. The sheets are stacked at one end of the system, and are fed to a first of two vacuum-controlled separator mechanisms. The first separator mechanism is adjusted for thicker sheets of the range. Sheets leaving the first separator are then fed to the second of the two separator mechanisms. The second separator is adjusted for thinner sheets of the range. Sheets leaving the second separator are ejected one at a time, in seriatim, where they then can be fed to other sheet handling equipment for processing.

    摘要: A sheet feeder apparatus having a deformable separator belt and an indexable retard roller includes a device for setting the proper depth of penetration of the retard roller into the deformable belt in the form of a flat surface on the periphery of the roller. In use, a deformable separator belt is placed in the sheet feeder over the flat surface of and adjacent to the retard roller. The proer penetration depth of the retard roller into the deformable belt is subsequently set by indexing the retard roller to present a non-flat surface adjacent the deformable belt.
