Abstract: A photographic film cassette including a drive transmission arrangement configured for operating a film capstan and for selectively driving supply and take-up reels of the cassette responsive to projector driving operation. Abstract: A film cartridge designed for permanent mounting on a movie projector having an automatic feed mechanism. The cartridge includes a generally rectangular housing for enclosing the entire film reel. A reciprocating spindle is slidably mounted by a pair of pins to captivate the film reel in an approximately precise orientation to permit the automatic feed mechanism to strip the leading edge from the reel and guide the leading edge into the machine. The reciprocal movement of the spindle is accomplished by a cam slot provided in a sliding cover permitting the insertion and removal of film reels without the expense of a cassette for each reel.

Abstract: A cartridge having a film handling portion and an audio tape cassette storing portion for use with an audio-visual system. The film storing portion includes a supply and take-up reel which are coupled by an intermediate gear so that the rotation of one reel is coupled to the other and means for transporting the film spooled about the reels past an aperture plate in either a continuous or intermittent motion mode. Provision is made in the cartridge for allowing the projection of light through the image portion of the film positioned at the aperture in the aperture plate and through an auxiliary frame in the film positioned at an auxilliary aperture to identify the number of the image portion being projected. A standard audio tape cassette containing the audio portion of the audio-visual presentation associated with the film may be stored in the tape cassette storing portion facing towards the opposite side of the cartridge from the aperture plate.

Abstract: A reel assembly for feeding, receiving and storing flexible strip material such as motion picture film. The reel is adapted to be mounted on the feed or take up spindles for a movie projector and permits film wound on the reel to be unwound either from the outside of the film windings or from the inside. The reel assembly includes a hub with an integral radial flange at one side and a removable cover that fits over the hub and flange and surrounds the hub and the strip material wound thereon. A movable or free annular side plate is adapted to be retained by the cover opposite the radial flange. Located within the hub is a film extraction drum slidably received for axial movement between a retracted detent position within the hub and an axially extended position partially outside of the hub and extending through a central opening in the free side plate. The extraction drum has a fastening means thereon that is connectable to the tail end or inside end of film wound on the hub and which extends radially through a slot in the hub. When the extraction drum is moved axially outward to its extended position, it slides the tail end of the film strip laterally off of the hub so that the film strip may be unwound from the inside out while passing through the central opening in the free side plate. Thus, the film strip may be threaded through a movie projector and continuously fed even though it is unwinding unconventionally from the inside out.

Abstract: A cartridge primarily for microfilm, or cassette, contains a supply reel and a sub-cartridge take-up means. Suitable guides in the cartridge or cassette automatically thread film from the supply reel past a cutter and into the sub-cartridge. Abstract: A motion-picture projector is adapted for the employment of a film cartridge of such a type as containing a film supply reel with the film trailing end secured thereto, and a take-up core with the film leading end secured thereto, which core is separable from the cartridge housing through a recess built up in one end of the cartridge. The housing is preferably made from two molded half sections, one of which is formed with an opening through which a film rewinding spindle of the projector is engageable with the film supply reel, and the other being provided on the inner surface and at a portion corresponding in position to the opening on one of the half sections with a support for supporting the film supply reel to be held in such a manner that at least a portion of spindle hole of the reel appears in the opening formed on one of two half sections. The cartridge is initially set in a first position in the projector in which the spindle of the projector engages the supply reel, and then transferred to a second position due to rotation of a reel supporting member of the projector having said spindle mounted thereon. In the second position, the take-up core is gripped by a gripper on a take-up transferring member, so that upon the rotation of the take-up core transferring member the take-up core is transferred with the film leading end to a film winding position.

Abstract: A cartridge for a strip of flexible material, preferably film, adapted for use with a projector having automatic feed-out means, basically comprising a reel receptacle and a cover.
