摘要： A small printer is disclosed which contains a character member, such as a character ring or a character belt. The character member comprises a plurality of character bodies which are connected by coupling portions and which comprise dot-like projections which form dot characters. The small printer also has a device to rotate the character member in order to place a desired dot character body which contains the dot character to be printed between a hammer and a piece of paper. Subsequently, the hammer strikes the desired character body and the dot character is printed on the paper. Since the small printer has the above-described construction, the small printer is less expensive and smaller than conventional printers.

摘要： A method and apparatus for enhancing the quality of images printed by dot printers or dot displays are disclosed. Image irregularities caused by quantization are smoothed by using a set of rules to transform an initial pattern into an enhanced pattern for printing. The initial pattern may consist of a matrix of bits representing an image having X dots per inch along an intended direction of printing. An intermediate pattern is formed by replicating columns of bits from the initial pattern. Image enhancement rules are applied to the intermediate pattern to invert one or more bits in the intermediate pattern to create an enhanced pattern. The enhanced pattern is printed at n*X dots per inch along the direction of printing where n.gtoreq.1.

摘要： A dot impact type serial printer is provided with a print head which has a plurality of print wires for printing an image. The print wires required to print a particular image are thrust toward a platen successively upon receiving a print timing signal, where each print timing signal is delayed from the previous print timing signal by a predetermined time interval t. The delay of each print timing signal is based on the time required for a surface wave, caused by the impact of print wires on the platen, to pass lengthwise across the platen and is selected to be less than one-half the surface wave travel time.

摘要： A character composed of basic symbols such as a Korean character is outputted by an apparatus so as to adjust to an outputted design or outputted design alteration. The apparatus includes an input device for inputting a plurality of binary codes, each binary code corresponding to a respective one of the basic symbols; an output device for outputting the character; a detecting circuit for detecting an indication code for supplying a space character from among the binary codes; a first calculating circuit for calculating the number of basic symbols; a converting circuit for converting the number of characters into a number of outputted units with respect to the size of the basic symbols; a second calculating circuit for calculating the supplying number of space characters by subtracting the number of outputted units from the number of basic symbols; and a supplying circuit for supplying a space character code to the output device, the number of space character codes being equivalent to the supplying number, the supplying circuit operated on or after an indication code has been detected by the detecting circuit. It is possible for the apparatus to output an output data representing Korean characters, space characters and other basic symbols, the output data being in accordance with an input data representing Korean alphabet symbols and other basic symbols.

Each printable character has an individual code which is recognizable by the control circuits of the arrangement which put into operation one or several printing cycles using selection of the symbol or of the symbols on the daisy wheel which make up the character and the displacements of the daisy wheel associated with the printing of the various component symbols. Machines which employ this arrangement may alternatively make use of specific national daisy wheel which is associated in an unequivocal manner with the keyboard of the machine.

摘要： My invention comprises a ballistic impact printer which includes a gun for successively propelling balls to a printing medium spaced from the gun. The balls are fed to the printer from a reservoir and recycled to the reservoir after they have performed their impact-printing function. I provide a bleeder duct for the projectiles intermediate the projectile feeder and the gun. When no printing occurs, the balls are deflected to the bleeder duct and never reach the gun. When printing is desired, the bleeder duct is blocked in order to constrain the projectiles to be fed to the gun, past a deflector which normally diverts the projectiles to the bleeder duct. The gate is a rapidly acting, electrically actuated assembly employing a piezo crystal or crystals, an electromagnet, or a solenoid. The deflector is positioned in the feeding duct and may be spring-loaded so it will yield when the gate is closed.
