    摘要: Apparatus for reading information stored in a track pattern on a radiation reflecting record comprises a source of radiation such as a laser for supplying at least a reading beam, an objective lens assembly for passing the reading beam to the record and for controllably focusing the reading beam at a plane of focus, a photodetector array disposed in an optical path with the lens assembly for sensing at least the recorded information and focusing errors, and an astigmatic element disposed in the optical path for producing an astigmatic image of the reading beam in which the photodetector array comprises a unitary data photodetector disposed for impingement thereon of a zero order reading beam component for sensing the recorded information, and a quadrant photodetector array adjacent to the unitary data photodetector and including separated sectors disposed along orthogonal axes for sensing relative differences of the astigmatic image along the orthogonal axes to provide at least focus error correction signals to the objective lens assembly.

    摘要: A device for automatically focusing an objective lens includes detecting means capable of detecting the positional relation of the objective lens with respect to an in-focus position at which an image of an object is formed on a predetermined focal plane, means including an electric motor and moving the objective lens toward the in-focus position by the motor, and means for controlling the driving of the motor in response to the detecting means. The control means includes a power supply circuit means for connecting the motor to a power source, a braking circuit means for short-circuiting the two terminals of the motor, and means for alternately operating the power supply circuit means and the braking circuit means to thereby decelerate the revolution of the motor when the objective lens is within a predetermined range near the in-focus position.

    摘要: An automatic focusing device and method for a camera in which the distance and direction to the focused position of a focusing lens of the camera are quickly determined after which the lens is moved directly to the focused position without the necessity of carrying out calculations as the lens is moved. Images of an object being viewed through the lens are projected onto first and second sensor groups. The outputs of the sensor groups are digitized then calculations are performed to determine the distance and direction to the position of correct focus. The lens is then moved to the focused position directly in accordance with the computed values.

    摘要: Electro-optical focus detection apparatus for providing a signal indicative of the magnitude and polarity of focus error in a light beam impinging on a surface, such as a recording surface in a recording or playback system. The detector includes a beam splitter for dividing the beam reflected from the recording surface into two reflected beams of equal power, and includes an aperture placed in the path of the two reflected beams. The first reflected beam converges at a focal point before encountering the aperture and the second reflected beam converges at a focal point after encountering the aperture, both beams thereafter impinging upon separate photodetector elements. The aperture reduces the light incident on the photodetectors from both reflected beams, and the apparatus is so configured that the powers of the reflected beams incident on the photodetector elements are identical when the original beam is in focus on the recording surface. When the original beam moves out of focus with the recording surface, both focal points of the reflected beams move in the same direction, to provide an increase in the light falling on one of the photodetector elements and a decrease in light falling on the other, such that the differential output derived from the photodetector elements provides a signal indicative of the magnitude and polarity of the focus error.

    摘要: A two beam alternating light colorimeter is disclosed wherein a light beam passing through a lens system having a shutter is periodically deflected by a pivoting mirror. In a first non-deflecting position of the pivotable mirror a first measuring beam is created which passes through a first measuring cell and is guided to a common photo cell. In a second deflecting position of the mirror a second measuring beam is created which is guided through a second measuring cell to the same photo cell. Signals from the photo cell are connected through a controlled switching element to an analog memory. A computing circuit is provided which connects to an output of the analog memory and also to the photo cell. The switching element connects the first measuring signal to the analog memory when the mirror is in a non-deflecting position and opens when the mirror is in a deflecting position. The computing circuit compares the signals corresponding to the first and second measuring beams.

    摘要: A servo unit in an optical information reading device having a lens for focussing an irradiation light beam on the record surface of a disk. A movable mirror positions the focal point of the irradiation light beam formed on the track of the disk. A cylindrical lens is arranged so that the central axis of the cylinder forms a 45.degree. angle with the track direction of the disk to allow a light beam from the record surface to pass through the cylindrical lens. A focussing light receiver having four separate light receiving units is arranged on two orthogonal straight lines. The focussing light receiver receives a focus controlling light beam passed through the cylindrical lens at a distance twice as long as the focal distance of the cylindrical lens. A pair of tracking light receiving elements are provided on both sides of the focussing light receiver such that the light receiving surfaces are flush with the light receiving surface of the focussing light receiver and arranged linearly to receive a pair of tracking controlling light beams. The focal point of the irradiation light beam formed by said focussing lens is positioned on the record surface in response to an output of the focussing light receiver. The movable mirror is adjusted so that the focal point is positioned on the track in response to outputs of the pair of tracking light receiving elements and the focussing light receiver is arranged so that one of the two straight lines coincides with the central line of the cylinder of the cylindrical lens.

    摘要: Apparatus for determining the direction a lens should be moved in order to provide a proper focus of a remote object on a predetermined plane. A plurality of radiation detectors are positioned to receive radiation in first and second patterns from the object and to produce signals in accordance therewith. A first group of radiation detectors, produces signals indicative of the radiation received on the first pattern while a second group of radiation detectors produces signals indicative of the radiation received, in the second pattern. The two patterns coincide at the proper focus but at other than the proper focus position, the two patterns are spaced from one another in a direction which depends upon the direction the lens should be moved to achieve proper focus. The absolute value of the difference between the signal from a first detector in the first pattern and the signal from a first detector in the second pattern is compared with the absolute value of the difference between the signal from a second detector in the first pattern and the signal from a second detector in the second pattern. The result is summed over a predetermined range and a characteristic of the summed value is indicative of the direction the lens should be moved for proper focus.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for determining the direction the taking lens of a camera should be moved in order to provide a proper focus condition. A plurality of radiant energy detectors are positioned to receive energy from a scene being viewed and a first group of such detectors produces a first output signal pattern while a second group of such detectors produces a second output signal pattern. The two patterns coincide at the desired focus position but move with respect to one another in a first or opposite direction depending upon the focus condition. The slope of one or both of the patterns at predetermined positions is multiplied by the difference in value from the outputs of the detectors to create values which are summed. The sign of the summed values is representative of the direction the taking lens must be moved to bring the patterns into coincidence at the desired focus position.
