Abstract:
A photographic film cassette including a drive transmission arrangement configured for operating a film capstan and for selectively driving supply and take-up reels of the cassette responsive to projector driving operation. The cassette is a large capacity film cassette for use with automatic projector apparatus of the type having a cassette-receiving well smaller than the space occupied by take-up and supply reels of the large capacity cassette and is provided with a tongue-like housing portion receivable in the cassette well of the projection apparatus. Contained within the cassette is reversible drive transmission by which drive spindles in the cassette well are coupled to both an isolating capstan and the film reels to effect advancing movement of the film strip from the supply reel to the take-up reel during projection and rewinding movement of the film strip back to the supply reel after projection.
Abstract:
An improved film supply and take-up transport for use with a motion picture projector. At least two horizontal film platters are connected through bearing plates to a single vertical drive shaft. A circular film winding core is selectively positioned concentric with the shaft on one platter. The core engages a mechanism for locking the platter through the bearing plate to the drive shaft for operating the platter in a take-up mode. A motor is controlled to rotate the drive shaft for winding the film onto the core at the same rate that the film is advanced through the projector. Film is supplied to the projector from the center of a film coil on another platter which is coupled through its bearing plate to the drive shaft. An auxiliary motor is intermittently operated to initially accelerate the supply platter when the projector is first started and to control the supply platter speed to maintain a desired film supply rate.
Abstract:
To record a composite picture on a film, a projection objective inserted between a movable transparency support and a pair of large-diameter planoconvex field lenses produces an aerial image of a slide, mounted on the support, in the region of the field lenses, preferably just beyond the more rewardly positioned field lens. A varifocal objective disposed to the rear of the field lenses has a stationary front component fully illuminated by the diverging light cones from all the points of the aerial image, this varifocal objective forming part of a zoom camera enabling the magnification ratio between the slide and its image on the camera film to be varied in a range of at least 6:1.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a spool for a flat strip, in particular a film spool, in which an end of the flat strip provided with notches formed by punching is fixed in recesses of the side walls of an encircling groove in the spool core.
Abstract:
An article of manufacture has a web wound on a cylindrical hub and a web leader wound between the hub and the web. The web leader is stiffer than the web and has a first end at the hub. A first leader portion has a uniform thickness greater than the thickness of the web and extends from the first end to a second leader portion. The second leader portion tapers from the uniform thickness at the first leader portion to a reduced thickness at a second end which is attached to the web. The tapering second leader portion overlays the first end of the web leader, whereby the web leader between the hub and the web constitutes a cylindrical support for the wound web.The disclosure extends to methods and articles for facilitating the winding of the web on a cylindrical hub, employing the above mentioned web leader.
Abstract:
A film cartridge designed for permanent mounting on a movie projector having an automatic feed mechanism. The cartridge includes a generally rectangular housing for enclosing the entire film reel. A reciprocating spindle is slidably mounted by a pair of pins to captivate the film reel in an approximately precise orientation to permit the automatic feed mechanism to strip the leading edge from the reel and guide the leading edge into the machine. The reciprocal movement of the spindle is accomplished by a cam slot provided in a sliding cover permitting the insertion and removal of film reels without the expense of a cassette for each reel.

A varifocal objective disposed to the rear of the field lenses has a stationary front component with a natural entrance pupil fully illuminated by the diverging light cones from all the points of the aerial image, this varifocal objective forming part of a zoom camera enabling the magnification ratio between the slide and its image on the camera film to be varied in a range of at least 6:1.
Abstract:
A container with a receptacle for a record carrier such as a tape cassette is provided with at least one clamping device which is disposed on a wall of the container, by means of which device a graphic carrier, such as a letter, an index strip, a note etc. can be clamped in position in the container. The clamping device comprises a lug which projects into the receptacle for actuation of the device.
