摘要: The present invention relates to a printer that can print effectively print requests from plural terminals. The printer includes a print execution unit and a control unit for controlling the operation of the print execution unit. The control unit controls the operation of the print execution unit in response to an external print request to perform a printing operation. The control unit also includes plural logical printers each which performs a virtual printing process corresponding to plural jobs. The control unit controls the operation of the print execution unit when each of the logical printers has completed a virtual printing operation for the page, and thus prints actually data for one page. The printer is applicable to a remote printer which prints in response to a print request from a terminal via a network such as a LAN.

摘要: An arrangement for controlling the printing in a mail-processing device has a print data controller for pixel data editing while printing with a print head. The print data controller is composed of a pixel data-editing unit and a circuit including a DMA controller, an address generator and a printer controller. The DMA controller allows access to the binary pixel data stored in the pixel memory in order to make the data available to the pixel data-editing unit in data strings. The address generator generates addresses that are supplied to the pixel data-editing unit for the selection of the binary pixel data from an intermediately stored data string and for grouping in the required sequence. The printer controller drives the pixel data-editing unit in order to supply the binary pixel data in groups to a driver unit for the print head.

摘要: An automated system and method for testing a facsimile machine using an additional port on the facsimile machine for communication with a computer which controls the testing. The system includes a user interface with a plurality of commands which a user can select for testing the facsimile machine. The present invention inputs, from the user, a testing sequence which includes the commands for testing the facsimile machine and transmits the commands for testing the facsimile machine from the computer to the facsimile machine through the additional port. The facsimile machine executes the transmitted commands to perform requested testing, collects testing conditions and test results, and communicates the testing conditions and test results to the computer through the port. The computer then logs the testing conditions and test results, and communicates the results to the user.

摘要: When a user enters control information for controlling a printing device, the information is stored in a user information storage unit. All combinations of items of the control information capable of being set by the user and values of items incapable of being set by the user, these having been selected so as to be the optimum values for the combinations, are stored as preset values in a combined information storage unit. An information storage unit compares a value in the user information storage unit with a value in the combined information storage unit. If a combination for which agreement is achieved is found in the combined information storage unit, this value is stored in a printing information storage unit and transmitted to the printing device. Thus, an optimum value can be selected and sent to the printing device even with regard to an item incapable of being selected by the user.

摘要: The invention aims to enable a plurality of users to perform photography suited to the tastes of the respective users. An image printing apparatus and a server are connected to one another via a network. The image printing apparatus transmits transmission information for requesting delivery of predetermined contents (for example, photographed pose image data, BGM data and narration data), to the server via the network. The server delivers reception information including the contents requested by the transmission information to the image printing apparatus via the network. The invention is applicable to, for example, an image printing apparatus represented by Print Club (trademark).

摘要: The present invention provides a method and system for the creation and use of simple and complex templates. The system includes providing the template where the template contains a plurality of tags, and then applying the template to the image based on the tags. The plurality of tags provide instructions for the application of a plurality of plane files to be applied to the image. The method and system in accordance with the present invention automates the process of applying templates to images which reduces the required amount of user time for the interface. Its use of tags to store the template requires less storage space. The method and system in accordance with the present invention thus saves the user considerable time and effort in applying templates. It also require less processing time over manual template creation methods.

摘要: A printing apparatus performs printing by scanning a printhead having an array of printing elements in which a plurality of printing elements are arranged in a predetermined direction, over a printing medium according to control information and image data transmitted from a host apparatus. Setting information designating some of the printing elements to be used for printing in the printing elements in the printhead according to a predetermined printing parameter is transmitted as control information from the host apparatus to the printing apparatus. In the printing apparatus, the printing elements to be used are set according to the setting information. Data to be printed by the printing elements used for printing in correspondence with scanning is generated in the host apparatus and transmitted as image data from the host. The printing apparatus performs printing by driving the set printing elements by the setting means according to the image data during scanning. Control relating settings of printing parameters in the printing apparatus is thus simplified to effectively reduce the capacity of a memory and the number of gates of a logic circuit provided in the printing apparatus. The manufacturing cost and the size of the printing apparatus are thereby reduced.

摘要: A reliable detection of optically detecting the type of recording media is achieved. A part of a support member for supporting an optical sensor is pushed against the surface of a sheet by a spring so as to maintain the gap between the sensor and the sheet surface. With this arrangement, a recording apparatus which is free from wrong detection is achieved regardless of a gap-varying factor, that is, the remaining amount of sheets. Also, by arranging a part of a light-shielding hood so as to abut against the sheet, wrong detection due to disturbance light can be prevented.
