    Abstract: A system for providing locations for each of a plurality of non-Global Positioning System (GPS) enabled devices (e.g., locations of “things” or objects in the IoT, for sensors in a WSN, and so on). The system includes a source device or “thing” including memory (e.g., a long-range sensor in a WSN or the like). The system also includes a portable computing device (e.g., a handheld GPS-enabled device), and the portable computing device includes: (a) a processor; (b) a location-determining assembly operating to determine location information for the portable computing device; and (c) a location-transferring module run by the processor to provide the location information in the memory of the source device (e.g., to copy the information to a predefined storage location for later retrieval and inclusion in predefined parts of a message or data packet).

    Abstract: A transportation management system that includes tools for generating an optimized trip plan that can be updated, such as based on driver input, during implementation of a planned trip. The system includes a comprehensive trip optimization tool that generates a trip plan with fuel stop and rest stop optimization. The system includes tools calculating estimated time of arrival (ETA) and projected time of availability (PTA) for the driver, and these tools are adapted to provide the ETA and PTA for the entire trip (rather than only providing an ETA for the next stop). The system further includes tools accepting driver input and/or allowing driver manipulation of a dispatched trip plan such as using pre-filtered alternatives for fuel stops or rest stops or routes, e.g., based on stored driver preferences, that may be less optimal than those in the original trip plan but still viable.

    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a portable casing for transporting a surveying instrument and a method for controlling charging of a plurality of batteries arranged in such a portable casing. The portable casing comprises a primary compartment for lodging the surveying instrument within the portable casing. The portable casing includes a plurality of secondary compartments for housing a plurality of rechargeable batteries. The portable casing also includes a charging unit arranged in the casing and electrically connected to the plurality of primary compartments for transferring electrical energy to and/or from the plurality of rechargeable batteries. Further, a control unit of the portable casing is configured to obtain information about the state of charge of each of the plurality of batteries arranged in the plurality of primary compartments, and control, based on the obtained information, an inter-charging function of the charging unit to cause, among batteries of the plurality of batteries that have a state of charge below a first threshold, a lesser discharged battery to receive electrical energy from at least one more discharged battery.

    Abstract: A method for reducing the risk of jamming during determination of the polarity of navigation bits in a GNSS signal. More than a threshold number of 1s or 0s are considered to be jamming data, and are ignored in two areas. First, they are ignored in generating a lookup table when determining which bits are historically risky bits in navigation acquisition. Second, they are ignored during a current navigation acquisition, since such bits may be due to current jamming efforts.

    Abstract: A method for communicating between mesh networks comprising: establishing a first tunnel to bypass a firewall, the bypass enabled by encapsulating first packets between a first backhaul node of a first local mesh network and a server, the first backhaul node of the first local mesh network having internet connectivity and receiving the first packets addressed to a destination not reachable by the first local mesh network without internet connectivity to a second local mesh network; establishing a second tunnel between a second backhaul node of a second local mesh network and the server, wherein the second backhaul node of the second local mesh network has internet connectivity; receiving at the server the encapsulated first packets from the first backhaul node via the first tunnel; and transmitting from the server the received encapsulated first packets to the second backhaul node of the second local mesh network.
