Abstract:
Embodiments of the present invention provide systems and methods for ranking a result set. The method according to one embodiment comprises selecting an item from the result set, selecting a user profile from one or more user profiles and selecting one or more items of personalized information from the selected user profile. A rank is calculated for the item on the basis of the selected one or more items of personalized information and the selected item in the result set is ranked in accordance with the calculated rank.
Abstract:
Techniques are described for identifying one or more “interest twins” of a user. An interest twin of a user in another user that has demonstrated interests in items that are the same as or similar to the items in which the user has demonstrated an interest. Various techniques are described for reducing the overhead in interest twin determination operations. Once the interest twins for a user have been identified, the knowledge of the interest twins may be used in a variety of ways to enhance to experience of the user. For example, a mechanism may be provided which allows the user to see a list of items in which the user's interest twins have indicated an interest.

Abstract:
In a method of mapping peers in a peer-to-peer network to an overlay network, network coordinates are determined for a selected peer. The logical coordinates in the overlay network are determined based on the network coordinates. A zone is determined based on the logical coordinates. The network coordinates, a network address of the selected peer and the zone is stored as an object at a peer owning the zone, where associated information is stored in the peer that has the network coordinate and using the network coordinate as a key.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to systems, methods, and user interfaces for browsing a collection of content items saved by a user or by one or more buddies associated with a given user. The method of the present invention comprises saving one or more content items and one or more associated keywords as specified by a user. An interface is generated that displays the one or more saved content items and the one or more associated keywords, as well as the one or more buddies associated with a given user. A user indication of the selection of a given keyword or the selection of a given buddy by the user is received. The one or more displayed content items are filtered according to the selected keyword, buddy, or combination of selected keyword and buddy.
Abstract:
A network includes a plurality of nodes. A set of candidate nodes from the plurality of nodes is selected based on location information for the candidate nodes and a first node also in the network. A clustering algorithm is applied to the location information for the candidate nodes and the first node, and a subset of the set of candidate nodes closest to the first node is identified based on the results of applying the clustering algorithm.

Abstract:
Access control systems and methods regulate access to shared content items in a corpus using visibility tokens. A user provides other users with access to a content item by associating a content token with the content item and associating a matching user token with each user who is to be granted access. A user who attempts to access the content item succeeds only if that user has a user token matching the content token associated with the content item. User tokens can be propagated automatically from one user to another, e.g., based on trust relationships among the users. Content tokens can be indexed with content items so that when a user searches the corpus, a search engine can detect matches between user tokens and content tokens and filter the search results based on whether they are visible to the querying user.
Abstract:
An overlay network is used to logically represent an underlying physical network. A network condition is monitored by a node in a target region of the network. If the network condition occurs, the node transmits a notification to a source node including location information for nodes physically close in the physical network. The source node may select a routing node in the target region based on the location information.
Abstract:
A distributed file system includes a plurality of nodes storing objects; an extractor and a semantic catalogue. The extractor extracts semantic information for the objects. The semantic catalogue includes the semantic information for the objects and may be stored by the plurality of nodes.
