    摘要: An electrically variable transmission includes an input member to receive power from an engine about a primary axis; an output member connected to a transfer member for transmitting power to a secondary axis; first and second motor/generators; first and second torque transfer devices; and first and second planetary gear sets each having first, second and third members. The input member is continuously connected to the first member of the first gear set, and the output member is continuously connected to the first member of the second gear set. The first motor/generator is continuously connected to the second member of the first gear set. The second motor/generator is continuously connected with the third member of the first or second gear set. The transfer member is positioned between the first and second motor/generators.

    摘要: A vehicle powertrain has an electrically variable power transmission, which incorporates two electric power transfer mechanisms, a planetary gearset, an input clutch and an output clutch. A power source continually supplies power to the input clutch and the output clutch is continuously connectible with a transmission output mechanism. One of the planetary gear members is continuously connected with one of the electric power transfer mechanisms and a second of the planetary gear member is continuously connected with the second power transfer mechanism. The clutches are operable to connect the input shaft with two members of the planetary gearset during two ranges of operation and the output clutch is operable to connect two members of the planetary gearset with the output shaft during two ranges of operation.

    摘要: An improved electrically variable transmission, especially useful in a hybrid electric vehicle, includes a variable input power split and independent shifting of the gear ratios of the mechanical and electrical power paths through the transmission. A first electric machine varies the ratio of the mechanical power path, and a second electric machine defining the electrical power path is mechanically connected to the output at two or more ratios and electrically connected to the first electric machine and optionally to an electric storage device. The mechanical connection of the second electric machine can be reconfigured without disturbing the output whenever the power flow through the electrical power path is zero. The second electric machine and electric storage device can sustain the output when the mechanical power path is reconfigured. Reconfiguration of the mechanical power path and the mechanical connection of the second electric machine are achieved with automated manual transmission gearing, and independent reconfiguration of the mechanical power path and the mechanical connection multiplies the number of overall operating modes for improved efficiency at a low cost.

    摘要: Various embodiments of electrically-variable transmissions have first and second motor-generators, first and second planetary gear sets, and two torque-transmitting mechanisms, including a rotating-type torque-transmitting mechanism and a stationary-type torque-transmitting mechanism. An input member is connected for common rotation with a ring gear of the first planetary gear set. Carrier members of both of the planetary gear sets are connected for common rotation with one another, and with an output member, via one or more radial-extending hub members and an axial-extending member or shaft. The first motor/generator is connected for common rotation with the sun gear of the first planetary gear set. The second motor/generator is connected for common rotation with the sun gear member of the second planetary gear set. In each embodiment, the various components of the transmission are positioned relative to one another to minimize the number and/or size of interconnecting shafts and shells.

The first electric motor includes an interchangeable winding set to provide the required power for the specific propulsion configuration utilized to propel the vehicle, i.e., a hybrid propulsion configuration or a full electric propulsion configuration. The transmission is operable in different powerflows to support operation of the powertrain in either of the hybrid propulsion configuration or the full electric propulsion configuration.     摘要: A hybrid transmission is provided that is configured to shift between the hybrid series operating mode and the compound-split operating mode synchronously, without slipping any torque-transmitting mechanisms. The transmission includes an input member operatively connected with the engine, an output member, and a plurality of selectively engageable torque-transmitting mechanisms. A gearing arrangement and first and second motor/generators operatively connected with the gearing arrangement are also provided. A first of the torque-transmitting mechanisms is engaged to establish a hybrid series operating mode between the input member and the output member, and a second of the torque-transmitting mechanisms is engaged to establish a compound-split operating mode between the input member and the output member. The shift between the hybrid series operating mode and the compound-split operating mode is synchronous without slipping the torque-transmitting mechanisms and occurs while the engine is on.
