摘要： In a golf ball having a multiplicity of generally circular dimples on its outer surface, the number of those dimples having a neighbor relationship that satisfies |α−β|≧15° wherein β is an angle included between two line segments extending from the center of a reference dimple tangent to the rim of an adjacent dimple and α is an angle included between two line segments extending from the center of the adjacent dimple tangent to the rim of the reference dimple is at least 60% of the total number of dimples. This enhances the dimple effects, so the ball exhibits improved aerodynamic performance and offers a consistent carry and direction independent of the point of impact.

摘要： A solid golf ball comprising a solid core and a cover has a multiplicity of dimples in its surface. The core undergoes a distortion of 2.8-4.0 mm under a load of 100 kg. The distortion (mm) of the core under a load of 100 kg divided by the distortion (mm) of the ball under a load of 100 kg is 1.0-1.3. The cover has a gage of 1.4-1.9 mm and a Shore D hardness of 53-60. Dimples of at least three types having different diameters are formed in the cover surface in a total number of 390-450. The diameter/depth ratio of each dimple is from 18/1 to 27/1. The volume of a dimple divided by the volume of a cylinder whose diameter and height correspond to the diameter and depth of the dimple, respectively, is 0.390-0.550. The golf ball is improved in flight distance, hitting feel and spin and will cover a distance even when hit at low head speeds.

The ball satisfies the following conditions: (i) a color difference ΔE* between the inside layer and the ball of at least 30; (ii) the inside layer has a lightness L* value, expressed in the L*a*b* color system based on JIS Z8729, of at least 82 and a chroma C, defined as (a*2+b*2)1/2, of at most 10; (iii) the ball has a lightness L* value of at least 50; (iv) the lightness L* value of the ball≦the lightness L* value of the inside layer; (v) the inside layer has a transparency which is up to 10% in terms of total transmittance and up to 1.0% in terms of parallel transmittance; and (vi) the cover has a transparency which is at least 50% in terms of total transmittance and at least 1.0% in terms of parallel transmittance. The colored golf ball of the invention is a fluorescent ball, yet retains a sense of transparency and thus confers a sense of quality. The ball also has weather resistance and is able to prevent changes in color. Moreover, the golf ball of the invention has a reassuring and psychologically calming effect on the golfer during play, and has a suitable look and feel.

The intermediate layer is formed of a highly neutralized resin material, and has a Shore D hardness of at least 40 but not more than 60 and a thickness of at least 1.7 mm but not more than 4.0 mm. The number of dimples is at least 272 but not more than 348. The golf ball, through a combination of dimples which do not cause a loss of lift in the low-velocity, low-spin rate region of the ball trajectory and a low-spin construction, travels farther and is therefore beneficial for competitive use by both skilled and amateur golfers.
