摘要： In a liquid crystal display device comprising a first substrate 101 having a color filter, a second substrate 131 and a liquid crystal layer disposed therebetween, a color filter layer 110 is disposed on a protection film 108 of a thin film transistor formed on the first substrate 101 so as to be partitioned by a light shielding portion 111, and a common electrode 103 is disposed thereon. A pixel electrode to be connected to a source electrode 107 is disposed through a through hole formed in an overcoat layer (interlayer separation film) 112. On the first substrate below the color filter layer 110 are provided plural scan signal electrodes, plural video signal electrodes crossing the scan signal electrodes in a matrix form, plural thin film transistors formed in association with the crossing points between the electrodes. Each pixel is provided with a common electrode 103 which is connected over plural pixels through a common electrode wire to supply reference potential, and a pixel electrode 114 which is connected to the corresponding thin film transistor and disposed so as to confront the common electrode in the pixel area.

摘要： An in-plane-switching liquid crystal display unit has a two-dimensional matrix of pixel regions each including a first auxiliary region and a second auxiliary region. When no electric field is applied, liquid crystal molecules in the first and second auxiliary regions are directed in respective orientations that lie at 90° with respect to each other. When a voltage is applied, the liquid crystal molecules are rotated in the same direction while maintaining their orientations in the first and second auxiliary regions at 90° with respect to each other. Alternatively, the liquid crystal molecules in the first and second auxiliary regions are directed in the same orientation when no electric field is applied, and when a voltage is applied, the liquid crystal molecules are rotated 15 opposite directions while maintaining their orientations in symmetric relationship.

摘要： A liquid crystal display apparatus includes a first substrate, a second substrate and a liquid crystal layer interposed between the first substrate and the second substrate. Each of the plurality of pixels includes a portion of one of the plurality of gate bus lines associated with the pixel, a portion of one of the plurality of drain bus lines associated with the pixel, a portion of a capacitance line associated with the pixel, a pixel transistor having a source and a drain which is connected with the associated drain bus line, a control electrode connected with the source and formed in at least a portion of a region of the pixel, and a the pixel electrode which is in an electrically floating state and which is formed to cover the control electrode and a portion of the capacitance line through at least one of a first insulating film and second insulating film.

The multi-domain liquid crystal display device is composed of a control electrode connected to a source terminal being one of terminals of a TFT (Thin Film Transistor) serving as a switching device, a picture electrode having an aperture section provided with one coupling capacitor connected between the pixel electrode and the control electrode, wherein a partial voltage of a signal voltage is applied to the pixel electrode through the other coupling capacitor.

摘要： An LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) including two substrates sandwiching an LC layer therebetween, and causing a plurality of different kinds of regions to coexist in the LC layer is disclosed. An electrode formed with an aperture is provided on at least one of the substrates. A second electrode is also provided on the same substrate as the above electrode in alignment with the electrode. A voltage higher than a voltage to be applied between the electrode with the aperture and a counter electrode facing it is applied between the second electrode and the counter electrode, thereby controlling the rising direction of LC molecules. The LCD is easy to produce and achieves a great viewing angle. In addition, the LC contains a polymer in order to fix the rising directions of the LC molecules.
