摘要： The present invention provide a homeotropic alignment liquid crystal display having a multi-domain which is capable of obtaining symmetrical viewing angles and simultaneously preventing color shift. An upper substrate and a lower substrate are opposed each other to be spaced apart and a liquid crystal layer interposed between inner surfaces of the upper and lower substrates. A first electrode and a second electrode are formed on the inner surface of the lower substrate, wherein the first electrode and the second electrode form an electric field for driving liquid crystal molecules. Further, homeotropic alignment layers are interposed between the lower substrate and the liquid crystal layer and between the upper substrate and the liquid crystal layer respectively. After a selected voltage is applied to the first and second electrodes, there are formed simultaneously a first electric field having a selected angle with a first direction and a second electric field making a symmetry with the first electric field with respect to the first electric field and the first direction. Therefore, the liquid crystal molecules are tilted in their left side and right side with respect to the center lines of electric fields thereby forming four symmetric liquid crystal domains within one pixel region.

摘要： The present invention is directed to prevent color shift in liquid crystal display devices and to improve their aperture ratio and transmittance. High aperture ratio and high transmittance liquid crystal display preventing color shift comprising: an upper substrate and a lower substrate opposed to be separated by selected distance; a liquid crystal layer including a plurality of liquid crystal molecules and interposed between inner surfaces of the upper and lower substrates; a first electrode formed on the inner surface of the lower substrate; and a second electrode formed on the inner surface of the lower substrate, wherein the first electrode and the second electrode form an electric field for driving the liquid crystal molecules; wherein in the absence of electric field between the first and second electrodes, the liquid crystal molecules are aligned such that their long axis are parallel to surfaces of the substrates in a first direction; wherein after a selected voltage is applied therebetween, first and second diagonal electric fields are simultaneously formed in a pixel, the two diagonal electric fields are formed to be symmetrical with respect to the first direction; wherein the first and second electrodes are made of transparent materials; wherein the distance between the first and second electrodes is shorter than the distance between the upper and lower substrates; wherein widths of the first and second electrodes are determined such that liquid crystal molecules overlying the two electrodes are driven by the electric field generated between the first and second electrodes.

摘要： The present invention provides an LCD device preventing color shift and enhancing the picture resolution, comprising: a first substrate comprising of a plurality of data bus lines which are parallel each other; a plurality of gate bus lines disposed parallel to form matrix type unit cells; a plurality of thin film transistors disposed at the intersections of the data bus lines and the gate bus lines, each disposed at each unit cell; and a pixel electrode connected to each of thin film transistor and a counter electrode are formed in each unit cells of the first substrate; a second substrate oppositely disposed to the first substrate with a predetermined distance; a liquid crystal layer including a plurality of liquid crystal molecules sandwiched between the first and second substrates; and polarizing plates attached to outer surfaces of the first substrate and the second substrate respectively; wherein each of unit cells defined by the adjacent two bus lines of the plurality of bus lines and the adjacent two scanning lines of the plurality of gate lines is divided into a plurality of electric field forming regions; and wherein the electric field formed in each electric field forming regions is obliquely formed toward the data bus line and the gate bus line, thereby having a symmetry with adjacent electric field forming region.

The pixel electrode has a bar for bisecting a space defined by the counter electrode. The counter electrode is a rectangular frame. Accordingly, an aperture ratio of the liquid crystal display is increased while multidomain is formed between the pixel electrode and the counter electrode.
