摘要： An articulating bearing knee including a guide post that in a first orientation allows substantially free varus and valgus distraction, but in another constrains the same. The guide post in includes a superior portion that engages a femoral component of a knee prosthesis in a rotated orientation. When the guide post engages the femoral component it may not distract as if it was not engaged. This allows for a control and constraint of such distraction when the knee is rotated and in a weaker position.

The release member includes a wedge portion with a superiorly posteriorly inclined face, and is designed to be driven anteriorly upon actuation so as to force the primary bearing off of the tibial base, after which the primary bearing and release member are removed and replaced with a modular bearing.

摘要： A method and apparatus for enabling access to an intramedullary canal of a femur through a femoral knee joint prosthesis includes a first condylar portion and a second condylar portion. The first condylar portion has a first femoral bearing surface and the second condylar portion has a second femoral bearing surface. An inner condylar portion extends between the first condylar portion and the second condylar portion and defines an opening passing therethrough. A seal member is operable to substantially seal the opening such that the seal member is further operable to be opened to enable access to the intramedullary canal of the femur without having to remove the femoral knee joint prosthesis from the femur. A method for enabling access to the intramedullary canal of the femur through the femoral knee joint prosthesis is also provided.

摘要： This invention relates to a floating bearing knee joint prosthesis having a fixed tibial post used for replacing the articulating knee portion of a femur and a tibia. The floating bearing knee joint prosthesis includes a femoral component, a tibial component, a guide post and a bearing member. The femoral component includes an engagement member, a first femoral bearing surface and a second femoral bearing surface. The tibial component includes a tibial bearing surface. The guide post extends from the tibial component and is operable to be engaged by the engagement member of the femoral component. The bearing member includes a first bearing surface that articulates with the first femoral bearing surface, a second bearing surface that articulates with the second femoral bearing surface and a third bearing surface that articulates with the tibial bearing surface. The bearing member further includes a posterior lip extension that substantially inhibits the bearing member from dislocating upon flexion of the knee joint prosthesis. The bearing member also defines an opening that receives the guide post where the opening is configured to substantially inhibit rotational movement of the bearing member relative to the tibial component in extension.

摘要： A patient-specific acetabular guide can be used for preparing an acetabulum of a patient to receive an acetabular implant. The acetabular guide includes a patient-specific engagement surface designed to be complementary and mateable with a corresponding surface of the patient's pelvic anatomy. The acetabular guide is designed during a pre-operative plan for the patient by a three-dimensional reconstruction of the anatomy of the patient using two-dimensional medical images. The patient-specific engagement surface has a first portion mateable with a portion of the acetabulum of the patient. The acetabular guide includes a guiding element that extends from the acetabular guide opposite to the first portion of engagement surface. The guiding element defines a bore designed to be oriented along an alignment axis for an acetabular implant when the acetabular guide is engaged to the acetabulum.

The guide includes a first portion having a first patient-specific inner surface that conforms to a first surface of the anatomical feature and an outer surface opposite the first patient-specific inner surface. The first portion also includes a guide surface for use in guiding the instrument relative to the anatomical feature. The guide also includes a second portion having a second patient-specific inner surface that conforms to a second surface of the anatomical feature and an outer surface opposite the second patient-specific inner surface. The second portion is removably connected to the first portion.
