摘要： An electrical connector system includes a daughter card connector formed of a plurality of wafers. Each wafer is formed with cavities between the contacts of the signal conductors. The cavities are shaped to receive lossy inserts whereby crosstalk is reduced. The connector system may also or alternatively include a front housing formed with shield plates also to aid in reducing cross-talk. The front housing is adapted to mate between the wafers of the daughter card connector and a backplane connector of the electrical connector system. In an alternative embodiment, the front housing portion may include lossy conductive portions for cross-talk reduction.

摘要： In one embodiment of the invention, there is disclosed an electrical connector connectable to a printed circuit board, the electrical connector having an insulative housing including side walls and a base. The electrical connector also includes signal conductors and ground conductors. Each of the signal conductors and ground conductors has a first contact end connectable to the printed circuit board, a second contact end, and an intermediate portion therebetween that is disposed in the base of the insulative housing. The signal conductors and the ground conductors are arranged in a plurality of rows, with each row having signal conductors and ground conductors. For each of the plurality of rows, there is a corresponding ground strip positioned adjacent thereto disposed in the base of the insulative housing. And the ground strip is electrically connected to the ground conductors of the row.

摘要： There is disclosed a two-piece electrical connector assembly having a first electrical connector and a second electrical connector. The first electrical connector includes a plurality of first signal conductors disposed along first and second sides of a first insulative housing and first ground plates disposed along the first and second sides of the first insulative housing and positioned adjacent the plurality of first signal conductors. The first electrical connector defines a slot for receiving an edge of a first printed circuit board. The second electrical connector includes a plurality of second signal conductors disposed along first and second sides of a second insulative housing and second ground plates disposed along the first and second sides of the second insulative housing and positioned adjacent the plurality of second signal conductors. Each of the second ground plates has a surface with a first edge and a second edge, at least one of the first edge or the second edge being bent in the direction toward the corresponding second signal conductor. When the first electrical connector and the second electrical connector are mated, the first signal conductors and corresponding second signal conductors are substantially enclosed and shielded by the first and second ground plates.

The connector is made of modules that have a plurality of pairs of signal conductors with a first signal path and a second signal path. Each signal path has a pair of contact portions, and an interim section extending between the contact portions. For each pair of signal conductors, a first distance between the interim sections is less than a second distance between the pair of signal conductors and any other pair of signal conductors of the plurality. Embodiments are shown that increase routability.

Signal contacts are inserted into the first dielectric housing and a second housing is overmolded on the first housing. Features are employed to lock the first and second housings together with the shield plate to provide a mechanically robust subassembly. The connector as formed has a good electrical properties, including precise impedance control and low cross talk.

摘要： A modular connector system for interconnecting printed circuit boards includes a first connector having an insulative housing supporting an array of blade-shaped contacts and a second connector having a complementary array of beam-shaped contacts. Preferably, each beam-shaped contact includes substantially independent coplanar beams which, in use, contact a common surface of a respective blade-shaped contact to provide multiple points of contact. The second connector includes a plurality of modules stacked in parallel. Each module includes a shield plate having an insulative receptacle attached at one end and a row of signal conductors, each having a beam-shaped contact at one end. Each insulative receptacle has a first side in which cavities are provided to receive the beam-shaped contacts of the signal conductor. Each insulative receptacle further includes a second, opposite side in which holes are formed in substantial alignment with the cavities for receiving the blade-shaped contacts of the first connector.
