    摘要: Techniques for providing voltage-controlled oscillator circuits having improved phase noise performance and lower power consumption. In an exemplary embodiment, a voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) is coupled to a mixer or a frequency divider such as a divide-by-two circuit. The VCO includes a transistor pair with magnetically cross-coupled inductors, and variable capacitance coupled to the gates of the transistor pair. In an exemplary embodiment, a frequency divider is configured to divide the frequency of the differential current flowing through the transistor pair to generate the LO output. In an alternative exemplary embodiment, a mixer is configured to mix the differential current flowing through the transistor pair with another signal. The VCO and mixer or frequency divider share common bias currents, thereby reducing power consumption. Various exemplary apparatuses and methods utilizing these techniques are disclosed.

    摘要: A high frequency divider involves a plurality of differential latches. Each latch includes a pair of cross-coupled P-channel transistors and a variable resistance element. The latch is controlled to have a lower output resistance at high operating frequencies by setting a multi-bit digital control value supplied to the variable resistance element. Controlling the latch to have a reduced output resistance at high frequencies allows the 3 dB bandwidth of the latch to be maintained over a wide operating frequency range. The variable resistance element is disposed between the two differential output nodes of the latch such that appreciable DC bias current does not flow across the variable resistance element. As a consequence, good output signal voltage swing is maintained at high frequencies, and divider current consumption does not increase appreciably at high frequencies as compared to output signal swing degradation and current consumption increases in a conventional differential latch divider.

    摘要: A charge-coupled device (CCD) image sensor includes a layer of a semiconductor material having a first conductivity type. A horizontal CCD channel region of a second conductivity type is disposed in the layer of the semiconductor material. The horizontal CCD channel region includes multiple phases that are used to shift photo-generated charge through the horizontal CCD channel region. Distinct overflow drain regions are disposed in the layer of semiconducting material, with an overflow drain region electrically connected to only one particular phase of the horizontal CCD channel region. A buffer region of the second conductivity type can be used to electrically connect each overflow drain to the one particular phase of the horizontal CCD channel. Multiple barrier regions are disposed in the layer of semiconductor material, with each barrier region disposed between each overflow drain and the one particular phase electrically connected to the drain.

    摘要: In one embodiment of the invention, a method for a charge pump is disclosed. The method includes biasing a plurality of transistors; switching a pair of main transistor switches to apply or remove a net charge on an output terminal though the biased transistors; and turning on auxiliary transistor switches when the main transistor switches are turned off. The auxiliary transistor switches when turned on provide an auxiliary equalizing path to nodes between the main transistor switches and the biased transistors. The auxiliary equalizing path equalizes voltages between the intermediate nodes to rapidly turn off the biased transistors and reduce noise on the output terminal of the charge pump.

    摘要: The present invention uses five regions of interest, 4 corners and 1 center to do Fourier Transform analysis to mark rough location of the streaks, if there is any. It sets the small window around the center in each Fourier Transform ROI to zero to mask the cluster of bright points caused by the lens rolloff or other noises. It use iterative linear regression to remove the random outliers and to search the best possible linear pattern. If it finds any streaks, it calculates the angle and converts it to the streak angle in spatial domain. Once a streak is detected, it can be removed by applying an inverse Fourier Transform on the processed magnitude and original phase Fourier Transform images.
