摘要： There is disclosed a vibrating, heated nail bath for soaking fingernails prior to manicuring. The device is a bowl shaped plastic housing which is hollow. Inside the housing attached to the bottom of the bowl is a DC motor with a double ended shaft, the shaft supports a frame by eccentric cams. Connecting rods run from the frame to the bottom of soft elastic rubber membranes in the base of the bowl. The vibration is caused by the shaft rotating in the eccentric cams with the result that the frame vibrates and in turn vibrates the connecting rods which vibrate the membranes. A heater on the inside housing walls of the bowl keep the nail bath solution at 100.degree. F. Known additives can be added to the nail bath.

摘要： There is disclosed a new and improved hair treatment device which comprises a fan for blowing air out of the device against a person's hair, a heater for heating the air before it is blown out of the device, and a means to control the airflow velocity which means is located at the forward end of the conduit for the heated air. Specifically, the airflow velocity control means is a pair of hinged trap doors disposed within the air conduit which are adjustable with infinite variability between the maximum opening capability of the air outlet in the hair treatment device and the minimum opening. The preferred means for adjusting the opening between the trap doors is a knob disposed on the outside of the air conduit portion of the device which is in operative relationship with a screw in operative relationship with the trap doors. The screw has two oppositely threaded portions, one portion haing a right-hand thread and the other portion having a left-hand thread and is inserted in both the trap doors each of which have an opening containing female threads adapted to engage a threaded portion of the adjustment screw. One trap door engages the left-hand thread and the other trap door engages the right-hand thread so that as the screw is turned by the knob, the trap doors rotate in opposite directions about their respective hinges. In operation, the user adjusts the opening by turning the knob while drying, shaping or styling the hair in order to obtain the desired airflow velocity and to obtain either a concentrated, dispersed or intermediate airflow.

摘要： A tubular member such as a cartridge which is filled with a material that, upon heating, changes its state from liquid to solid (such as wax) is flocked to enhance heat transfer from the tubular member to hair rolled around the tubular member. Top and bottom snap-on flanged ends of low heat conducting material are connected to the tubular cartridge by a base means having a base portion and base sides. The sides include a plurality of locking means comprised of radial protrusions or a locking portion having a camming surface, a locking lip, and a locking surface, the radial protrusions or locking portions for communication with a groove in the tubular cartridge. Venting is provided in each base portion to promote heat dissipation from the flanged ends. An aperture is provided in the bottom flanged end base portion in registry with an aperture in the tubular cartridge for receiving a means for heating the roller. Crushing ribs may be provided on each base side to contact the flocked tubular cartridge to prevent axial rotation between the flanged ends and the tubular member. Alternatively, the tubular member may be a high heat conducting tubular material having convex protrusions which mate with concave indentations in the base sides. Spacing projections to space the tubular member from the base portion of the flanged ends may be alternatively employed.

摘要： An appliance is provided which is capable of transmitting heat retained therein to cooked food placed in the appliance, so that the food can be kept hot when an electrical cord used for initially causing the appliance to be electrically heated is disconnected therefrom. The appliance includes an outer casing and a removable cover, both of which are made of materials that retard heat loss from the appliance, preferably non-metallic materials. It further includes a housing enclosed by the casing and cover and made of a non-metallic material, such as plastic, in which a non-metallic heat retaining material, such as wax, is confined. Disposed throughout the heat retaining material is a resistance heater, which is removably connected to the electrical cord for melting the material, so that the heat of fusion of the melted material may be transmitted into the food to reduce its cooling rate after the heater is disconnected from the cord.
