    摘要: The invention relates to a control valve assembly for a hydrostatic control system such as a power steering assembly. A common control valve assembly of this type has relatively rotatable inner and outer elements connected respectively to a vehicle steering wheel and a servomotor. Paired holes in the inner and outer elements permit the flow of fluid therethrough when the unit is in its neutral position with the paired holes in respective registration. In prior art units disturbing vibrations occur during the transition from the neutral position to a working position when the paired holes are moved out of registration. These vibrations are eliminated by making the holes in the outer element of varying size and larger than the corresponding holes in the inner element so that a gradual or progressive reduction of the porting area takes place instead of the paired holes closing simultaneously.

    摘要: A valve mechanism for controlling pressure distribution to a fluid pressure operated servo motor in a power steering gear mechanism for an automotive vehicle comprising a simplified valve spool, a driver operated steering shaft, a relatively frictionfree screw mechanism adapted to connect the steering shaft to driven portions of a steering system, the steering shaft including a torsion bar portion that yields upon application of steering effort to the steering shaft, a cam having a driving part connected to the steering shaft and a driven part connected to the valve spool for adjustably positioning the valve spool in response to deflection of the torsion bar portion, and a valve spring biasing the valve spool against the cam surface of said cam connection thereby establishing a zero backlash condition.

    摘要: A power-assisting rack and pinion steering system including a housing, relatively rotatable torque input and output shafts mounted for rotation in the housing, a pinion mounted for joint rotation on the torque output shaft, a rack engaging the pinion and a fluid valve assembly for controlling the flow of fluid to and from the opposite ends of a double-acting servomotor also connected to the rack for assisting in the movement thereof. The valve assembly comprises a circumferentially grooved spool valve connected to one of said shafts for axial movement, such movement occurring when the shafts are rotated relative to one another. Axial movement of the spool valve establishes fluid communication between a power fluid pump and the servomotor for powered movement of the servomotor and hence the rack.
