摘要： A filter unit capable of receiving a cartridge-type filter element is provided for use in-line with a suction-type pool cleaning device. The unit has an elongated housing with intake and outlet ports at opposite ends. The intake port may be connected via a hose to a pool cleaning device and the outlet port to a suction port in the pool circulation system. The unit can use a filter cartridge with an element that offers a filtration coarseness somewhere between that of the system filter and a strainer element. The housing may be adapted to receive a strainer basket in place of the filter cartridge and thus serve as a conventional leaf-trap.

摘要： Apparatus (42, 72) for filling a hose (36) with water (12) and simultaneously for expelling air from the hose while connected to the vacuum side of a pump (20) in preparation for cleaning debris from a swimming pool (10) without loss of the prime in the pump comprises a housing (44, 74) submergeable in the water and having a pair of chambers (46, 48 & 76, 78) respectively having inlets (58, 80) and outlets (64, 86), with the inlets being open to the water and the outlets being coupled respectively to the pump and to the hose. Impellers (54, 100 & 56, 102) respectively in their chambers are coupled together by a shaft (52, 98) in which a first of the impellers (54, 100) is driven by a second of the impellers (56, 102) when water is drawn by the pump past the second of the impellers. In one embodiment, elbow conduit (110) can be slid from a first position where water purges air from the hose to a second position where the hose is used to clean debris from the swimming pool. In another embodiment a hose end is first coupled to the pump's pressure side (24) to expel air from the hose and thereafter, without removing the hose end from the water, the hose end is coupled to the pump's vacuum side (22) to vacuum the pool.

摘要： An improved drivehead for an automatic swimming pool cleaning system includes a circular wheel member mounted for free rotation around a platform member. The platform member carries a water jet nozzle which urges the wheel member into rolling contact with and along the sides of the pool. A flexible water supply hose connects the platform member to a pressurized pool water inlet. The water jet nozzle and supply hose cooperate, when the drivehead encounters an obstruction, to cause the platform member to rotate within the outer wheel member to move the drivehead around the obstruction.

摘要： A self-propelled device adapted to move along the bottom of swimming pools or other water tanks in a random pattern to clean the surface thereof. The cleaner has low-voltage motors for driving, sensing means to sense contact with walls, and electronic logic means to direct the motion of the cleaner according to certain requirements. The Cleaner has a suction inlet, a strainer, and is connected by means of a hose to a relatively high-voltage pump above the water level. The logic means provides for lock-out of spurious signals, pause times, and turning by selected drive wheel reversals. Various modifications and board applications of certain of the principles are possible.
