摘要： An embodiment of a system for treating sleep apnea includes a collar, a pump, and a motor. The collar has a vacuum surface and has a sealing surface that is configured to form a seal with a region of a neck of a subject having an airway. The pump is secured to the collar, and is configured to maintain the airway open by drawing a vacuum between the vacuum surface of the collar and a region of a throat of the subject. And the motor is secured to the collar and is configured to drive the pump. As compared to existing systems (e.g., a Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) system) for treating sleep apnea, the above-described system may be more portable, more comfortable, may be less likely to require adjustment while a subject using the system is asleep, and, therefore, may be less likely to awaken the subject.

摘要： Methods of tissue manipulation are provided. Aspects of the methods include non-surgical methods for manipulating one or more tissues, such as human tissues. In some versions, the tissues are subcutaneous and the methods include differentiating at least a first tissue and a second tissue. Embodiments of the methods include inducing relative motion between a first tissue and a second tissue by, for example, applying pressure to one or more of the tissues and/or by inducing movement of at least a portion of a subject's body which is operatively connected to a tissue. The disclosed subject matter finds use in a variety of different applications, including alleviating symptoms of overuse conditions.

摘要： A system for aiding the crawling mobility of children or young adults is disclosed. The system consists of central hub supported by four legs. The patient is enclosed in a harness which is coupled to a support cord extending through the central hub. A lifting force partially offsetting the patient's weight is supplied by tension on the support cord, which is locked relative to the central hub via a locking device. Coupling between the support cord and harness is provided by carabineers which are clipped to “D” rings on the harness. The balance point can be adjusted by moving the attachment point to various “D” ring locations.
