    摘要: A motor driven ball valve may be driven in two modes of operation; those modes are a normal or testing mode and an emergency mode. The ball valve, when in its full open position, has an air passage that allows for the rapid exhaust of air in the air pipe of the air brake system to atmosphere, thereby inducing the emergency application of the brakes. The rotating ball valve assembly is capable of infinite variation between its full closed and its full open positions. Thus, the motor drive, which is remotely controlled, can effectively modulate the reduction in air pressure in the air pipe for a variety of purposes, including normal operation of the brakes and testing the air brake system. The motor drive mechanism may be in a cam, gear, or follower configuration. When an emergency application of the brakes is required, the motor drive mechanism is disengaged to allow a spring or other torsion device to rapidly rotate the ball to full open position, while drawing minimal electrical power. The spring or other torsion mechanism is prestressed by the operation of the motor driven mechanism as it rotates the ball toward its closed position.

    摘要: The acceleration apparatus for connection with a pilot operated compressed-air brake comprises a tap-off valve which vents the main air line or conduit at the beginning of the braking procedure. This tap-off valve is opened by an actuator or actuating mechanism via a disengageable intermediary member. By employing a rotationally symmetrical plunger or push rod which is pivoted into the operative position thereof by a spring and deflected by an interrupter piston, the construction of the disengageable intermediary member can be substantially simplified. The plunger or push rod possesses at the one end thereof a cam or pin and a substantially conical surface.

    摘要: A freight brake control valve device having an improved quick service function provided by suppressing premature cut off operation of the quick service limiting valve. In one embodiment of the invention, this is accomplished by connecting the quick service volume pressure to the underside of the quick service limiting valve piston during preliminary quick service to counteract the pressure pulse on the opposite side of the piston that occurs during the transition between the preliminary and secondary stages of quick service. In a second embodiment, pressure is created at the underside of the quick service limiting valve piston by dashpot action of the piston itself.

The relay valve permits the brake system to be configured so that the requirement for expensive control valves is minimized. The novel relay valve is interposed between the control valve and a number of brake cylinders. Upon a signal from the control valve, the relay valve delivers brake air to the cylinders from a pre-charged reservoir or other source. The novel relay valve includes primary and secondary flow valves to cause air to be delivered to the brakes in a controlled manner. An exhaust valve arrangement in the relay valve permits the brakes to be released.

    摘要: The present invention discloses a maximum pressure control device for the brake cylinder pressure that is to be supplied to a brake cylinder and this device can consist of two separate pressure control devices or be constructed as a unified, reversible pressure control device. The selection of one of the active pressure control devices or changeover of the switchable maximum pressure control device results from a main brake line pressure acting against a spring loaded control piston which, depending on the main brake line pressure, can switch off the pressure control function of the maximum pressure control device for the low (service) or high (emergency) brake cylinder pressure. The control piston when functioning as an actuated cut off device can be mechanically coupled with a pressure control device by means of a stop coupling or pneumatic coupling. As a result, the control piston is not able to exert any negative effect on the control precision of the maximum pressure control device.
