摘要: A test sample is provided for testing performance of measuring and monitoring equipment for production lines, for example for foodstuffs or pharmaceuticals, and in particular, contamination monitoring equipment employing X-rays and/or metal detectors to spot foreign bodies in packaged products. The test sample may comprise a laminated card enclosing a standardised test piece such as a metal particle of specified size. The card or other sample bears at least one identification containing a barcode, readable by an optical scanner. To test the equipment, a card is placed on a product package passing through the equipment, the optical scanner reads the barcode to confirm that the correct test sample has been submitted, and the results for the test sample are recorded in a computer log. If the results do not match those expected from the particular test sample submitted, the equipment fails the test and requires recalibration or repair.

摘要: The subject invention concerns methods revealing surface imperfections on an object comprising the steps of: coating the surface to be inspected with a composition comprising an opaque, water-dispersible liquid, sufficiently surface-adherent and with surface-wetting properties as to create a gloss finish, at least before the liquid dries, on the restored area; inspecting the surface to check for imperfections; and removing said composition with water. The method may also include a step of marking the surface, through the wet composition layer, to indicate the location of imperfections discovered. Also described are compositions and delivery systems suitable for carrying out the method comprising aqueous dispersions of a pigment and a resin, especially a polysaccharide resin.

摘要: A system for determining a distance of travel of a brake cylinder piston includes a brake cylinder having the brake cylinder piston, a pressure transducer operationally coupled to the brake cylinder and configured to determine a pressure measurement within the brake cylinder, and a control module of an electrically controlled pneumatic (ECP) brake control system. The control module is operationally coupled to the pressure transducer and configured to convert the pressure measurement within the brake cylinder determined by the pressure transducer into at least one of a displacement time of the brake cylinder piston, an equalization pressure within the brake cylinder, a pressure build-up time within the brake cylinder, a pressure leakage from the brake cylinder, or any combination thereof. The control module determines the distance of travel of the brake cylinder piston based on at least one of the displacement time of the brake cylinder piston, the equalization pressure within the brake cylinder, the pressure build-up time within the brake cylinder, the pressure leakage from the brake cylinder, or any combination thereof.

摘要: A method for measuring dimensions between selected points on a side of interest in objects selected for measurement by an optical measuring system comprising a flatbed scanner and a connected computer system through acquiring a reference image to provide corresponding image distance errors; and also acquiring a measurement object image. Deviation curves are provided as the basis for determining deviation errors in the measurement object image. Corrected measurement object image distances are formed through combining the deviation errors in the measurement object image distances with the corresponding measurement object image. These corrected measurement object image distances are used to determine distances between chosen pairs of those selected locations.
