    摘要: An apparatus for providing a combined digital signal comprises a bit adder and a combiner. The combined digital signal contains information of a first digital input signal and a second digital input signal, wherein a block length of the first digital input signal is shorter than a block length of the second digital input signal. The bit adder is configured to add at least one filling bit to a block of the first digital input signal to obtain an adapted first digital input signal, so that the block length of the adapted first digital input signal is equal to a block length of the second digital input signal. The combiner is configured to combine the adapted first digital input signal and the second digital input signal to obtain and provide the combined digital signal.

    摘要: A ceramic glow plug which prevents the occurrence of damage on a small diameter portion formed on a rear end portion of a ceramic heater fixed in a metallic outer sleeve. The rear end portion of the ceramic heater is positioned inside the metallic outer sleeve, and the small diameter portion is formed on the rear end portion. The rear-end small diameter portion of the ceramic heater is connected to an electrode lead-out member for taking out a positive electrode of a heat generating material. Granulated powder (alumina, for example) made of inorganic insulating material is filled in around a connecting portion of the ceramic heater in the metallic outer tube and the electrode lead-out-wire, and in addition, an insulating material is sealed outside the granulated powder. Thereafter, swaging is performed to bring the insulating material into a highly dense state thus fixing the electrode lead-out wire and an electrode lead-out rod in the metallic outer sleeve.

    摘要: A method for forming through wafer vias in a substrate uses a Cr/Au seed layer to plate the bottom of a blind trench formed in the front side of a substrate. Thereafter, a reverse plating process uses a forward current to plate the bottom and sides of the blind hole, and a reverse current to de-plate material in or near the top. Using the reverse pulse plating technique, the plating proceeds generally from the bottom of the blind hole to the top. To form the through wafer via, the back side of the substrate is ground or etched away to remove material up to and including the dead-end wall of the blind hole.

    摘要: Techniques for improving detection of watermarks in content that has undergone a lossy transformation. One of the techniques is used when the message that is contained in a watermark belonging to a digital representation that is derived from an original watermarked digital representation cannot be decoded. The technique obtains information about the watermark by comparing the watermark vector for the watermark that cannot be decoded with a replica of the watermark vector from the original watermarked digital representation. The replica is made using the message. Depending on the degree of similarity, the watermark's presence and some of its characteristics may be determined. Another technique improves the robustness of watermarks that are used for authentication by employing a short (even single-bit) watermark vector to make the watermark and using the message needed for the authentication to determine where the watermark is located in the digital representation. Authentication of a digital representation is done by determining whether the watermark is present in the digital representation. In another technique, detection of the presence of a watermark is used to determine what areas of a digital representation have been subject to alteration. Techniques for synchronizing digital representations for watermark detection and other purposes include adding marks whose locations can be automatically detected only with the help of information that is external to the digital representation, such as a key, and adding marks to a sequence of digital representations and detecting the marks by summing the sequence.

    摘要: Techniques for incorporating authentication information into digital representations of objects and using the authentication information to authenticate the objects. The authentication information may be made from information in one portion of the digital representation and incorporated into another portion of the digital representation that does not overlap the first portion. Where the digital representation is made into an analog form and that in turn is made into a digital representation and the second digital representation is verified, the two portions must further be non-overlapping in the analog form. The information from which the authentication information is made may exist at many levels: representations of physical effects produced by the object, representations of features of the object, codes that represent the object's contents, and representations of descriptions of the object. Also disclosed are a verification server and techniques for reducing errors by an OCR. The verification server verifies authenticated documents. When a document is verified, an identifier is associated with the document and the identifier is used to locate a key for the authentication information and in some cases a second copy of the authentication information. The verification process may also involve security patterns that are a physical part of the analog form. The error reduction techniques include an error code specifying characters in the object that are confusing to OCR devices, and the error code is used to correct the results of an OCR reading of an analog form.
