摘要: Specific printed products (2') of the printed products (2, 2') that are conveyed one behind another in a hanging position are rotated through 180.degree. about an axis of rotation that runs at right angles to the main surface (6) of these printed products (2'). Following the rotation, the rotated printed products (2") are gripped once more at their side edge (7) located at the top, which is opposite the side edge (4) at which the printed products (2') were held before the rotation. In this way, a product stream is obtained in which specific printed products (2") assume a spatial position different from that of the remaining printed products (2). For example, in this product stream the folded edge (4) of the nonrotated printed products (2) lies at the top, whereas the folded edges (4) of the rotated printed products (2") lie at the bottom. This results in advantages in the later further processing of the printed products (2, 2"), for example during stacking.

摘要: A machine and method is disclosed for stacking product, including but not limited to, cardboard, magazines, newspapers, newspaper supplements, flyers, press signatures, and softcover books. The stacking machine includes an infeed assembly for receiving a product stream or flow. The infeed assembly includes a belt jogger assembly for aligning product as it enters the machine. A transport assembly delivers product from the infeed assembly to a stacking assembly. The stacking assembly includes an interrupter that creates a gap in the product stream and assists in accumulating a single lift of product on a separator. The separator delivers a single lift of product to one of a pair of elevators, which deliver a first application of compression to the lift. After the first compression, the lift is transferred to a compression apparatus where a second round of compression is applied in the process of forming a final stack. Each time a lift is delivered to the compression apparatus, compression is applied to the stack, thus many of the lifts will be compressed several times until the stack is ejected from the machine.

摘要: A device for stacking papers having a disk with a top and bottom surface, a means for rotating the disk, a pair of symmetrically opposing movable walls having opposing longitudinal flat wall sections that are kept in a parallel space apart relationship. The opposing fiat wall sections and the top surface of the disk defining a first space adapted to receive the papers, and the interior of said symmetrically opposing movable walls and the top surface of the disk defining a second space adapted to contain the assembly for turning the opposing movable walls. The movement of the opposing movable walls discharging the papers that have been deposited in the first space of the device. The device also includes tensioners that keep the symmetrically opposing movable walls taut and are positioned so that the tensioners do not alter the parallel spaced apart relationship of the opposing longitudinal fiat wall sections. In addition, the symmetrically opposing movable walls are mounted to the top surface of the disk on slots so that they can be adjusted to collect, and discharge, papers of greater or less length.

摘要: A stack of signatures are dropped upon the platform halves of a rotatable platform, the platform halves being raised to reduce the free fall distance from the point where the stack of signatures are dropped and a lower stack ejection position. The platform halves are lowered as each stack of signatures is delivered thereto. Eventually, the platform is lowered to the stack ejection position and the pusher is pushed through a gap provided between the platform halves to eject a completed bundle from the platform. The pusher moves through the gap as the platform is being raised or lowered to significantly reduce the cycle time. Stack compressors are selectively movable to a position above the turntable and by selectively raising the platform halves, the accumulated stack of signatures on the platform halves are squeezed between the compression members and the platform halves to form a neat, compressed bundle. The turntable is rotatable through a half-revolution to form compensated stacks. The pusher may be returned to a start position while the platform halves are being raised without fear of collision due to the provision of the gap between the platform halves.

摘要: A machine for stacking bundles of signatures and like products supplied in a continuous flow with their backs oriented in the same direction is provided by this invention. The machine comprises a support frame, a substantially horizontal endless conveyor supported by the frame having an input end for supplying the products to be stacked and an output end of loading the stacked products, and a platform for rotating an individual product. The platform is mounted rotatably on the frame about a vertical axis passing through the conveyor, and is translatable along the axis between a lowered position of substantial alignment with the plane of the conveyor, and a raised position in which the products on the conveyor can pass beneath the platform. The platform effects cyclically a raising from the conveyor of a product supply to the conveyor, rotating the raised product about the vertical axis so as to orient the back of this raised product in a direction diametrically opposed to that of its supply to the conveyor, and deposits the product with the oppositely-oriented back on the conveyor. The platform provides a horizontal support which supports said product over substantially the entire horizontal plane of said product. The machine allows stable stacks to be formed and has the qualities of speed and precision in operation, as well as high reliability and simple construction.

摘要: Below a stationary stacker device are prestackers movable out-of-phase between receiving and delivery positions. Within a stacker chute of the prestacker located in the receiving position a partial stack is formed from incoming printed products and reposes upon a displaceable support table. In the delivery position, by raising the support table, the partial stack on the support table is displaced into the stacker chute which is closed at its bottom by pivotable restraining flaps. The flaps are pivoted out of their effective position by the introduced partial stack. The flaps are elevationally displaceable and receive the partial stack to be introduced from the support table located in its upper terminal position and, during their displacement movement, convey the engaged partial stack completely into the stacker chute. Both of the prestackers are arranged upon a rotatable support arm. The one prestacker is fixedly connected with the support arm, the other prestacker is rotatably mounted in the support arm. A sprocket wheel is connected with this rotatable prestacker. The sprocket wheel is drivingly connected by a chain with a second sprocket wheel keyed to a pivot pin. Upon rotation of the support arm through 180.degree. the prestacker fixedly connected with the support arm rotates about the pivot pin, whereas the rotatable prestacker rotates about its vertical axis, and thus, performs a translational movement between the receiving and delivery position. Thus, the partial stacks are mutually stacked cross-wise with respect to the final stack.

摘要: A method and an apparatus for addressing and stacking individual pieces of printed matter for mailing, especially magazine copies, booklets and other bindery articles. The addressing of the mailing pieces is accomplished by applying to each mailing piece individual address identification data, such as labels from a computer-printed address list. After addressing of the mailing pieces has been accomplished, the labelled or identified pieces are conveyed into one or more stacking machines, the front page and the back of each magazine being oriented in the same direction. Each of the stacking machines is equipped with a first selector for changing the orientation of the mailing pieces so as to stack the mailing pieces in batches comprising a selected number of pieces, the copies of each batch having their backs oriented the same way, but oppositely of the backs of the pieces in the underlying batch. Each stacking machine also comprises a second selector for initiating removal of a full pile of such oriented mailing pieces. When a printed address list is used, a detection of symbols thereon is accomplished prior to the severing of the computer list into individual address labels. Depending on the combination of the detected symbols, the detector and control systems initiate operation of the first and/or second selectors. The symbols and combinations thereof are positioned on the printed address lists or on the storage means in dependence of the number of mailing pieces to be delivered to one post office or one zip code. The method and the apparatus allow for stacking of the mailing pieces so as to make the stack or pile upright despite the normally increased thickness of the backs of the pieces and without introducing any discontinuation in the stacking or removing operation of the piles.

摘要: A signature stacker having an infeed section for receiving a continuous stream of signatures arranged in overlapping fashion to form either compensated or uncompensated bundles having a predetermined and precise number of signatures. Counter means in the infeed section counts each signature in the stream to generate a signal upon accumulation of a predetermined count to activate a retractable stop means which enables a preloaded swingable intercept blade to be abruptly urged into the path of the signature stream which is passing from the infeed conveyor towards a reciprocating blade assembly. The signatures for the bundle being completed are deposited by a downwardly moving reciprocating stacking blade assembly upon the bundle holding bucket of an outfeed assembly, said intercept blade passing through the intercept region for a period sufficient to enable the stacking blade assembly to move downwardly to deposit a completed bundle (or bundle portion) and to return to the uppermost position in readiness for receiving the next group of signatures.
