摘要： A printer that prints characters or graphics on tape by means of a thermal print head, having a cutting means that cuts the tape at predetermined positions, and control means which act to eliminate printing defects such as gaps, or spaces, between printed dot strings. Gaps between printed dot strings, caused by a tape cutting operation that pulls the tape past the print head, is eliminated by the control means which reverses the tape feed mechanism in order to slacken the tape just prior to cutting. After cutting, the control means forwards the tape by an amount less than or equal to the amount reversed and printing is resumed. Printer also provides means for entry of lead margin length, total tape length, character spacing and character string to be printed by means of a keyboard. Rear margin length is computed by the printer.

摘要： An image recording apparatus for scanning a print head of predetermined width in a main scanning direction and successively displacing a recording medium in a subscanning direction thereby forming an image on said medium. The constitution of the apparatus is shown in FIG. 4A and an arrangement is provided whereby the remaining print width of the recording medium, after the last print line of predetermined width, is calculated and the recording medium is displaced by the remaining width in the subscanning direction before printing of the last line. The constitution of the apparatus further includes a platen with suction holes for chucking the recording medium during recording and an arrangement for reducing the suction area on the platten at the time of printing of the last line.

摘要： A print control apparatus includes a page memory and a format memory respectively for receiving and storing a plurality of page data items and a plurality of format data entries which are supplied from a host computer, and is adapted to expand the corresponding page data and format data stored in the memories into dot data to perform overlay operation to thereby output the print data to a printer. The format memory is divided into a plurality of blocks, and the in-use and unused states of each of the blocks are controlled by a control table. The format data is prefetched into blocks in a free state detected by the control table, to thereby prevent the printing operation from being interrupted in case of changing the format data.

摘要： An image recording apparatus comprises ink jet recording heads; a carriage for moving and scanning those ink jet heads; and a data recording unit for recording character data such as the date and the like in a blank portion other than a image recording region of the recording medium by use of the ink jet heads which are in this blank portion while the carriage is scanning. The character data is recorded (generally in black) by at least the one ink jet head which is arranged at the endmost portion in the direction of arrangement of the ink jet heads. Since the character data can be recorded in the blank portion while the image is being recorded in the image recording region, the total recording time can be reduced.

摘要： Disclosed is a system and method for reducing the level of electromagnetic emission radiated by electrical discharge type printers. Such printers utilize one or more styluses which are scanned across the width of a roll of electrosensitive paper and are selectively energized to vaporize small areas on the paper's coating to thereby form characters. When the coating vaporizes, a spark is produced which generates a broad band of electromagnetic energy which is conducted into the environment due to the conductive coating of the previously printed paper acting as an antenna.In order to reduce the effective antenna length and/or propagation capability to thereby reduce the energy radiated, the present system creates isolation bands at preset intervals as the printing occurs. The isolation bands are produced by continuously energizing all styluses as they scan across the full width of the paper, thereby causing an entire band of the paper's conductive coating to be burned off across the entire width of the paper. Each isolation band severs the conductive surface of the paper, thereby reducing the effective length and/or propagation capability of the antenna created by the printed paper and lowering the level of radiated energy.

If the former is not longer than the latter, both format data and description (e.g. character) data are decomposed into dots in the same one of a couple of memories and said couple of memories are alternately and cylically brought to store operation and printout operation. If, on the contrary, the former is longer than the latter, the decomposed format is fixed in one memory while description data is decomposed every time in the other memory, and the contents of both memories are superimposed when printed out.
