摘要： An unwinding machine for wound rolls, e.g. of paper, has holders which can be swung alternately into the unwinding and the splicing positions. A new roll in the splicing position has its leading end engaged by a groove roller which draws the new web between itself and the old web during continued unwinding thereof and a blade roller is pressed against the groove roller to cut through both webs and attach an adhesive strip across the trailing end of the old web and the leading edge of the new web. The residue of the old web continues to be wound up on the blade roller while a small residue of the new web is picked up by the groove roller and carried away.

摘要： A vacuum roller assembly for feeding sheet material such as finishing paper, carton, foil and the like, wherein a resilient roller shell is provided with a plurality of suction ports for drawing the sheet material into non-slip contact with the roller assembly. A plurality of deformable slit-like openings extend into the resilient shell, with the slits being in vacuum communication with the suction ports to provide a suction network over the roller and adaptable for providing suction to only that portion of the vacuum roller in contact with the sheet material.

摘要： A coating system for a web traveling in a web-travel direction has a slot nozzle from which a curtain of a coating material falls on the traveling web and a pair of guide elements flanking the slot nozzle and having confronting and vertical inner faces engaging and defining edges of the curtain. Respective aspiration elements fixed at lower ends of the guide elements have inner faces vertically aligned with and forming vertical continuations of the inner faces of the respective guide elements, and each formed with a vertical and inwardly open aspiration groove and with a transversely extending vacuum passage open into the respective groove. Respective floors on the aspiration elements downwardly close the respective aspiration grooves and are each formed with a sharp inwardly directed edge closely spacedly juxtaposed with the web. Excess coating material is aspirated from the curtain through the vacuum passages.

摘要： In a process for the moistening, impregnating and refining of a web of paper, carton, foil and the like, the web is treated in steam by the condensation effect of liquid supplied through nozzle bodies, and a precipitate is produced. An apparatus for carrying out the process has nozzle bodies arranged in a casing and connected to a steam supply, the nozzle bodies each containing a heater for heating the liquid and gas in a substantially pressureless condition in front of the nozzle outlets. Cooling elements are provided for the cooling of the web fed past the nozzle bodies, the whole being arranged such that, through the liquid being supplied, a condensation and thus a precipitation onto the surface of the web are produced.

According to the invention, the lateral guiding elements (7, 12) are curved on the upper end thereof corresponding to the course of the casting surface, (8) whereon (8) the lateral guiding elements are fixed in an adjustable transversal manner and the coating material supply line (10) leads into the valve chamber (2) in the central area of the casting container (1).

摘要： A web to be coated travels over a deflecting roll and underneath a slot nozzle from which a curtain of a coating material falls. A suction box open toward the roll and web has upstream and downstream ends and extends full axial length of the roll. An upstream seal on the upstream side of the box is juxtaposed with the web, extends the full axial length of the roll, and has upstream and downstream edges extending transverse to the web-travel direction. A similar downstream seal is provided on the downstream side of the box juxtaposed with the web. The downstream-seal downstream edge is spaced upstream in the direction from where the curtain falls on the web. Air is withdrawn from the box between the seals to suctionally strip a boundary layer of air from the web between the seals.

The application roller is in the form of a mini-roller. The doctor rod is supported for rotation in a clamp bearing which partly embraces the lower part of the rod between two spaced viscoelastic bearing members enclosing a wash water channel below the doctor rod. One bearing member is movable and is abutted by an adjustable pressure element urging the movable bearing member towards the other bearing member so as to adjustably hold and seal the doctor rod.
