摘要: This invention related to methods of adapting or modifying a complementary DNA (cDNA) sequence for expression in a eukaryotic cell. A nucleic acid molecule is provided that comprises a cDNA sequence that includes two or more splicing consensus motifs that divide the cDNA sequence into exon regions of 50 to 1200 nucleotides. Heterologous introns are then inserted into the splicing consensus motifs of the cDNA sequence, wherein each heterologous intron comprises a 3′ region having a GC content that is equal to or lower than the GC content of a 5′ region of the immediately downstream exon region. This produces a nucleic acid molecule comprising a modified cDNA sequence for expression in a eukaryotic cell. Methods, recombinant nucleic acid comprising a cDNA sequence, expression vectors comprising the recombinant nucleic acid and eukaryotic cells comprising a recombinant nucleic acid or expression vector are provided.

摘要: An electronic stethoscope system comprising a device to capture an acoustic heart signal from a patient and a neural network to classify the data into heart sound categories to provide time series sound category data comprising, for each of a succession of time intervals, category probability data representing a probability of the acoustic signal falling into each of the categories. The stethoscope also includes one or more heart state models each having a sequence of heart cardiac cycle states, a system to fit the time series sound category data to the models and determine timing data for the sequence of heart states and a confidence value for the model fit, and an output to output one or both of a model fit indication dependent upon the confidence value and an indication of the timing data.

摘要: An image generation system for providing a ghost image free head-up display, the system comprising a display screen having a front surface and a back surface, a picture generation unit for projecting an image towards the display screen for reflection towards an eye box, a field lens, and an anisotropic optical component having a first optical power along a first axis and second optical power along a second axis, wherein the first and second axis are perpendicular, wherein the picture generation unit is configured to project light through the field lens such that light is incident on the front surface of the display screen forming a first virtual image, wherein a portion of the light is transmitted through the display screen and is incident on the back surface of the display screen forming a second virtual image, wherein the first and second virtual images are offset along the first axis, wherein the field lens is configured to project the first virtual image at a first projection distance and the second virtual image at a second projection distance such that the offset is below a threshold magnitude and the first and second virtual images are substantially overlaid as viewed from the eye box, and wherein the anisotropic optical component is configured to magnify the first and second virtual image along the second axis only.

摘要: A magnetic particle (30, 70) has a layered structure (6, 56) between a top surface of the particle and an opposed bottom surface of the particle. Layers of the structure include one or more non- magnetic layer(s) and one or more magnetized layer(s). The ratio of a lateral dimension of the one or more magnetized layers to the aggregate thickness of the magnetized layer or layers is greater than 500. A plurality of such magnetic particles (30, 70) can be functionalised and marked with readable codes (16, 66) corresponding to the functionalisation, for use for performing assays such as bioassays.
