[Class 2 (iii)] Derivatives of (1 : 3 : 5-triazinyl -6)-aminophenylarsonic acids, which have therapeutic properties, are made by reacting halogen or amino derivatives of 1 :3 :5-triazine with phenylarsonic acid amino or halogen derivatives, the products, when containing halogen, being further treated if desired with ammonia or alkylamines. Ir. examples (1) sodium paminophenyl-arsonate is reacted with cyanuric chloride, and the resulting p-(2 : 4-dichloro- 1 : 3 : 5-triazinyl-6)-aminophenylarsonic acid is treated with ammonia to replace one or both chlorine atoms by an amino group, and (2) sodium-p-amino-phenyl-arsonate is reacted with chlorocyanuric-diamide, and the product reacted with methylamine to produce p-(2: 4- dimethylamino-1: 3: 5-trazinyl-6)-aminophenylarsonic acid. Melamine may also be reacted with halogenophenyl-arsonic acids to yield the same products, and the p-aminophenylarsonic acid may be replaced by its substitution products or isomers, such as 4-hydroxy-3- aminophenylarsonic acid or 2-hydroxy-4-aminophenylarsonic acid.
