摘要: Embodiments provide a modified microbe capable of growing in or fermenting a solution, or lignocellulosic hydrolysate, comprising ferulic acid and/or coniferyl aldehyde. The microbe has one or more modifications to provide: (a) a decrease in copy number or expression of a BNA7 gene; (b) an increase in copy number or expression of one or more pentose phosphate pathway genes; and/or (c) localization of one or more products of the pentose phosphate pathway genes to the mitochondria or endoplasmic reticulum. Also provided is a microbe having modified expression or copy number of BNA7 and/or one or more of the pentose phosphate pathway genes. The pentose phosphate pathway genes may in certain embodiments be selected from at least one of ZWF1, TKL1, RPE1 and GND1. Also provided is a method for fermenting a substrate comprising ferulic acid and/or coniferyl aldehyde to produce a fermentation product.

摘要: Systems, devices, and methods for detecting cannabinoids in liquid or gaseous samples. In one aspect, the present invention uses a sensor element and two electrical circuit elements. When the sensor element is in contact with a sample containing cannabinoid, interactions between the sensor element and the cannabinoid changes or affects the sensor element's electrochemical properties. Using the two electrical circuit elements, this change can be detected. An analog signal relating to the changed electrochemical properties can be measured using the two electrical circuit elements. In one implementation, there is provided an organic field effect transistor (OFET) whose signal changes when in contact with a cannabinoid containing sample.

摘要: Methods for modulating lysosome-mediated microautophagy of a lipid or protein substrate in a cell are provided herein. In certain embodiments, said methods may comprise increasing lysosome-mediated microautophagy by treating the cell with a microautophagy-enhancing agent which increases lysosomal association-dissociation events between lysosomes and the cellular lipid or protein substrate and/or increases lysosomal degradation capacity; or decreasing lysosome-mediated microautophagy by treating the cell with a microautophagy-reducing agent which reduces lysosomal association-dissociation events between lysosomes and the cellular lipid or protein substrate and/or decreases lysosomal degradation capacity; thereby modulating lysosome-mediated microautophagy of the lipid or protein substrate.

摘要: A method and apparatus for laser-induced forward transfer (LIFT) processing including a dynamic release mirror structure (DRMS) for desorbing delicate materials from a first surface and depositing a resultant formation of a portion of the materials on a second surface without damaging the material or coating the material with contaminants. The DRMS includes a lower-situated absorbing polymer layer on a transparent substrate. The lower-situated absorbing polymer layer is coated with a metal layer to reflect light of a laser pulse. The metal layer is topped by an upper-situated polymer cap layer. The 3-part layering of the metal layer sandwiched between the upper and lower polymer layers is variable in terms of materials and thickness to tune DRMS operational characteristics.
