摘要: In one aspect, a method to detect white blood cells and/or white blood cell subtypes from non-invasive capillary videos is featured. The method includes acquiring a first plurality of images of a region of interest including one or more capillaries of a predetermined area of a human subject from non-invasive capillary videos captured with an optical device, processing the first plurality of images to determine one or more optical absorption gaps located in said capillary, and annotating the first plurality of images with an indication of any optical absorption gap detected in the first plurality of images. The method also includes acquiring a second plurality of images of the same region of interest of the same capillary with an advanced optical device capable of resolving cellular structure of white blood cells and white blood cell subtypes and spatiotemporally annotating the second plurality of images with an indication of any white blood cell detected and/or a subtype of any white blood cell detected in the second plurality of images. The method also includes inputting the first plurality of images and annotated information from the first plurality of images and annotated information from the spatiotemporally annotated second plurality of images into a machine learning subsystem configured to determine a presence of white blood cells and/or the subtype of any white blood cells present in the one or more optical absorption gaps in the first plurality of images.

摘要: A system for enhancing adsorption of contaminated vapors to increase treatment capacity of a regenerable, synthetic adsorptive media. The system includes an inlet configured to receive a flow of contaminated vapors. One or more vessels are coupled to the inlet, the one or more vessels each including a regenerable, synthetic adsorptive media therein, are configured to remove contaminants from the vapors by adsorption. A vapor cooling subsystem is coupled to the inlet, and configured to cool the flow of contaminated vapors, thereby increasing the treatment capacity of the regenerable synthetic adsorptive media.

摘要: A contactless system for measuring and continuously monitoring arterial blood pressure includes a light source configured to illuminate light having at least one predetermined wavelength at a predetermined area of a human subject having an artery therein. A detector responsive to reflected light from the predetermined area to continuously acquire images of the artery in the predetermined area. A processor processes the images and determines when an image at a proximal location of the predetermined area is darker indicating transition of a pulse wave into the artery at the proximal location and at a proximal time and when an image at a distal location of the predetermined area is darker indicating transition of the pulse wave into the artery at a distal location at a distal time to contactlessly and continuously calculate the arterial blood pressure for each cardiac cycle of the human subject.

The optical fibre is a multimode optical fibre in which laser radiation propagates in a first optical mode and in a second optical mode. The squeezing mechanism includes at least one periodic surface defined by a pitch. The periodic surface is located adjacent to the optical fibre. The pitch couples the first and second optical modes together. The first optical mode is defined by a first mode order. The second optical mode is defined by a second mode order which is higher than the first mode order. The squeezing mechanism squeezes the periodic surface and optical fibre together with a squeezing force thereby coupling the first optical mode to the second optical mode.
