    摘要: A system and method includes a laser to create a control laser signal and a laser to create a probe laser signal. A resonator creates an acoustic signal adjacent the control laser signal and the probe laser signal. A resulting coherent interaction between the control laser signal and the probe laser signal creates a Brillouin scattering induced transparency in one direction and maintains opacity in an opposite direction.

    摘要: A probe assembly includes plural capacitive contacts that are separate from each other and a conductive depletion gate disposed between and separating the contacts from each other. The depletion gate is configured to receive a direct electric voltage to deplete regions of a sample under test of electrons. The contacts are configured to be placed in close proximity to a buried conducting layer in the sample under test without engaging the buried conducting layer, thereby capacitively coupling to the buried conducting layer. A first subset of the capacitive contacts is configured to apply an alternating electric current to a portion of the sample under test and a second subset of the capacitive contacts is configured to sense an alternating voltage response of the portion of the sample under test to characterize one or more electrical properties of the sample under test without the capacitive contact with the buried conductive layer.

    摘要: A method for determining a derived geographic location of a target Internet host includes identifying plural landmark Internet hosts communicatively coupled with the target Internet host by a network. The method also includes measuring network latencies of probe packets transmitted to the target and landmark Internet hosts along different network pathways and calculating relative distances between the target Internet host and one or more of the landmark Internet hosts based on the network latencies. The method further includes comparing the relative distances to identify at least one of the landmark Internet hosts that is geographically closer to the target Internet host than one or more other landmark Internet hosts and determining the derived geographic location of the target Internet host based on a geographic location of the at least one of the landmark Internet hosts that is geographically closer to the target Internet host.

    摘要: A diagnostic analyzer includes a track, a light-blocking member, a motor, and an optical testing device. The track moves a reaction vessel held by the track. The light-blocking member is disposed adjacent to the track. The light-blocking member moves from a first position apart from the track to a second position closer to the track. When the light-blocking member is disposed in the first position a sample contained within the reaction vessel held by the track is exposed to light. When the light-blocking member is disposed in the second position the sample contained within the reaction vessel held by the track is blocked from exposure to the light. The motor moves the light-blocking member between the first and the second positions. The optical testing device is disposed adjacent to the track for optically testing the sample contained within the reaction vessel held by the track when the at least one light-blocking member is disposed in the second position.
