摘要: An adhesive joining device for providing a connection between a metal surface and a body using an electrochemical etching device. The device has a vacuum holder to form a vacuum connection between the adhesive joining device and the metal surface. A tool changing holder receives at least two different tools in a time-staggered manner. A first tool can be an electrochemical etching cell for an electrolyte with an etching chamber which is oriented towards the metal surface, a feed for electrolyte, a drain, and two electrodes, one electrode being mechanically and electrically connected to the metal surface and the second electrode coming into contact with the electrolyte. A second tool is for holding and positioning the body to be adhered to the etched metal surface. The distance, position, alignment, and/or parallelity of the body to be adhered can be configured in a reliable and defined manner for the adhesion process.

摘要: A magnetic field measuring device having a cantilevered, mechanically vibratable, rectangular substrate strip, at least one flat side of the substrate strip being coated with a magnetostrictive material system, further having drive means designed for the temporally periodic exertion of a force component directed perpendicular to the flat sides of the substrate strip on at least one part of a flat side of the substrate strip with a predetermined excitation frequency and having a detection device for detecting an electrical signal generated by the vibration of the substrate strip, wherein a. the substrate strip is formed from a material with a modulus of elasticity greater than 5 GPa and b. the excitation frequency is set up as a function of the dimensions of the substrate strip in such a way that the substrate strip oscillates in mechanical resonance and forms a U-mode, and c. the detection device has an induction coil which surrounds the substrate strip in a contactless manner and has a coil axis aligned along the substrate strip.

摘要: High cycle fatigue (HCF) in a turbine wheel of a sector-divided dual volute turbocharger, particularly a turbocharger where the tongue-to-blade gap is as small as from 1-3% of the wheel diameter, is reduced, by locally increasing the volute cross-sectional area just upstream of the tongues. Thereby, it becomes possible to reduce the force function of the exhaust gas pressure onto the turbine wheel blades. Modifying how the pressure presents itself to the wheel reduces blade excitation and, ultimately, HCF of turbine wheels. In another aspect of the invention, the angle of the tongues are modified to direct the exhaust more directly onto the turbine wheel than conventional tongues. It is surprising that this approach not only accomplishes the desired result, but does this without significant loss of turbine stage efficiency.

摘要: Simplified methods are disclosed for preparing a catalyst coated membrane that is reinforced with a porous polymer sheet (e.g. an expanded polymer sheet) for use in solid polymer electrolyte fuel cells. The methods involve forming a solid polymer electrolyte membrane by coating membrane ionomer solution onto a first catalyst layer and then applying the porous polymer sheet to the membrane ionomer solution coating, while it is still wet, such that the membrane ionomer solution only partially fills the pores of the porous polymer sheet. A second catalyst ink is then applied which fills the remaining pores of the porous polymer sheet. Not only are such methods simpler than many conventional methods, but surprisingly this can result in a marked improvement in fuel cell performance characteristics.
