Abstract: Contact lenses include three or four annular spherical or aspherical optical zones for improved bifocal vision with reduced glare and blurriness in which the boundaries of certain of the distance and near power zones are established in relationship to the user's pupil size at differing illuminations. Abstract: A water meter resetter incorporates as a principal component a plastic body having six fittings lying in a common plane. A primary inlet and primary outlet are coaxially aligned on first and second opposed walls. A secondary outlet and secondary inlet are coaxially aligned on the opposed walls. In use, a first horn is rotatably attached to the secondary outlet, and a second horn is rotatable attached to the secondary inlet. A water meter is attached between the horns. Because the horns are rotatable about a common axis at each of their ends, the meter can be offset from the supply pipes at continuously variable heights. In an embodiment, the secondary inlet and outlet are internal, and the horns are held in a fluid-tight slip joint formed by internal O-rings. The height of the meter may optionally be locked by the use of an angle holder.

Abstract: An improvement in a Two Way Automated Communications System (TWACS) requires only three of six previously required vectors to communicate with remote communication equipment (RCE) devices installed in the three phases of a utility's low voltage distribution network for concurrent outbound signal communications over the TWACS. The reduction in vectors allows an outbound injection silicon-controlled rectifier (SCR) array used for such purposes to be greatly simplified and further allows the SCRs in the array to be operated independently, and therefore concurrently.

Abstract: A continuously variable transmission housing is provided that includes an inner cover and an outer cover connectable to the inner cover to define an interior chamber. The interior chamber is structured and operable to enclose a continuously variable transmission primary pulley, secondary pulley and pulley belt. The housing includes a duct panel mounted to the inner cover such that when the primary pulley is disposed within the interior chamber, the duct panel is disposed between an outer face of the primary pulley and the inner cover. Moreover, an air duct is defined between the inner cover and the duct panel, wherein the air duct is fluidly connected to ambient air from an ambient environment external to the housing. The duct panel includes a center opening that structured and operable to allow the ambient air to be drawn through the air duct and into the housing interior chamber.

Abstract: A ring metal (M) installed in a binder (B) stores punched sheets of paper and the like. The ring metal includes binder rings (R) mounted on movable frames (F) to which one end of each ring half is attached. The frames are movable relative to each other to open and close the rings. A ring guard (10) is removably installable over a portion of each ring half, when the binder ring is closed, to securely encompass rings halves (12, 14) forming the ring. The guard encloses the junction (J) where outer ends of the ring halves meet when the rings are closed and prevents a gap from opening between the ring halves if the binder is subjected to a force which would otherwise cause a gap to form between the ring halves and paper stored in the binder to spill out or be damaged.

Abstract: A disk for vertically cutting grass surfaces, the disk includes a center plate mountable to a shaft and a plurality of teeth extending from a circumferential edge of the center plate. Each tooth comprises a base extending from the circumferential edge of the center plate and at least one blade extending from the base at an offset angle. Each blade includes a neck extending from the base at the offset angle, and a tip extending radially outward from the neck relative to a center plane of the center plate such that the tip is offset from the center plane. The tip also extends from the neck at a yaw angle relative to the center plane such that when the disk is rotated about a rotational axis of the shaft a leading edge of the tip rotates in a different rotational plane than a trailing edge of the tip.
