摘要： A method of recording and reproducing video data is provided. The method of recording video data in an information storage medium includes the steps of (a) decoding originally encoded video data, (b) re-encoding the decoded video data in a different way to the originally encoded video data, (c) generating video transform information which is to be referred to for decoding the video data into its original state, and (d) recording the generated video transform information and the re encoded video data in the information storage medium. Accordingly, the video data can be properly reproduced even if it is re-encoded in a different way to the originally encoded video data.

摘要： An information storage medium and an apparatus for recording and/or reproducing the information storage medium are provided to control an optimal recording power without an influence of an optimal power control (OPC) area in a layer upon an OPC area in a different layer. The information storage medium includes at least one information storage layer including an optimal power control area for obtaining an optical recording condition. OPC areas in adjacent information storage layers are disposed within different radiuses of the information storage medium. Accordingly, even when the information storage medium is made eccentric or has a manufacturing error, a recording property of the information storage medium is prevented from being degraded due to an influence of an OPC area in an information storage layer upon an OPC area in an adjacent information storage layer.

A plurality of zones are formed as one group without prescribing the relationship between a zone and a group. Spare areas include a spare area for slipping replacement and a spare area for linear replacement. The spare are for slipping replacement is first allocated, and the spare area for linear replacement is allocated according to the size of an area remaining after the spare area for slipping replacement is used and the purpose for which a disc is used. When the spare area for linear replacement becomes deficient during use of the disc, a supplementary spare area for linear replacement is allocated in sequence from the rearmost of a logical file area, such that the spare area can be more flexibly and effectively allocated.

By adjusting the size of or excluding a mark with a size in the vicinity of the limit of the resolution that has a low C/N ratio, the C/N ratio is improved and the performance of super resolution information reproduction is improved such that high density and high capacity information storage medium can be implemented.
