摘要: A downhole separator (10) separates gas from well fluids which are pumped intermittently to the surface. The separator includes an outer tubular housing (12) and an inner flow tube (22) for passing well fluids to the surface after separation of the gas from the well fluids. A vortex flow generator or spiral gas separator (20) imparts a helical flow to effect separation of the gas from the well fluids. Gas from the gas chamber flows upward past the vortex flow generator when the pump is not pumping well fluids to the surface.

摘要: A tool 10 is provided for radially expanding a downhole tubular C, and includes a central tool mandrel 12 which functionally is part of a drill string or work string, a tubular expander 48 at the lower end of the tubular, and a downhole actuator 15 for forcibly moving the expander axially within the downhole tubular. Slips 20 are positioned for securing the tool within the tubular, so that the slips may be set, and the tool subsequently stroked to move the expander 48 and radially expand a length of the tubular. Upward pull on the work string may expand long portions of the downhole tubular.

摘要: Control of an original document content having permissives includes systems, computer program products and methods that include limiting extractions from the original document to discrete defined portions by enforcing one or more extraction permissives associated with the document and decrypting the document to allow displaying the document only through a document control editor that is capable of identifying and enforcing the extraction permissives. The method may further include assembling a manuscript having an extracted portion from the original document and one or more extraction permissives associated with the extracted portion, wherein the extracted portion can be displayed in decrypted form only through the document control editor. The manuscript may be sent to a publishing authority of the original document for receiving permission to publish the manuscript containing the extracted portion and further receiving a new permissive in the manuscript inserted by the publishing authority and directed to the extracted portion.

摘要: A root growth barrier and method for use with transplantable plants is provided. The barrier is a bilayer, comprising an inner layer of a root-tip-trapping material bonded to an outer layer of a root-impenetrable material. The inner layer faces the roots of a plant and serves to trap root tips to promote root branching. When a black or dark-colored inner layer is bonded to a white or light colored reflective outer layer, soil temperatures are lower and water retention is promoted. Such a barrier may be used as a freestanding container for plants or be manufactured into preformed rolls for use in plant pots and containers.

摘要: Method and material for spectroscopic detection of organic chemicals. The material is a substantially optically transparent solid, such as ZnS, having a high surface area for adsorption of an analyte, such as organic chemical vapors. The solid material preferably has metal nanoparticles, such as gold, silver or copper nanoparticles, deposited on the surface for signal enhancement. A template compound, such as cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide and alkoxylate block polymers, may be used during the material synthesis, such as reacting zinc chloride and sodium sulfide in the presence of the template compound, and later removed through calcination and washing to achieve the high surface area. The method of use includes collecting an analyte on the material and detecting the spectroscopic response of the analyte while it is collected on the surface. The mechanism of collection may include adsorbing, absorbing, and preconcentrating. Preferably, the spectroscopic response is selected from infrared spectra or ultraviolet-visible spectra.
