摘要: A method for predicting the effectiveness of medication-based therapy in lowering average blood glucose levels in a diabetic patient is provided. This method may further comprise selectively recommending a medication-based therapy on the basis of the arithmetic average of the relative minima. A method for determining susceptibility to symptomatic hypoglycemia in a patient is provided. This method may further comprise selectively recommending a medication-based therapy on the basis of the arithmetic average of the relative minima. Provided also is a device for continuously monitoring blood glucose levels in a patient. The methods and device involve applying a Fourier approximation to blood glucose level data.

摘要: Image acquisition refers to the taking of digital images of multiple views of the object of interest. In the processing step, the constituent images collected in the image acquisition step are selected and further processed to form a multimedia sequence which allows for the interactive view of the object. Furthermore, during the Processing phase, the entire multimedia sequence is compressed and digitally signed to authorize it viewing. In the Storage and Caching Step, the resulting multimedia sequence is sent to a storage servers. In the Transmission and viewing step, a Viewer (individual) may request a particular multi-media sequence, for example, by selecting a particular hyperlink within a browser, which initiates the downloading, checking of authorization to view, decompression and interactive rendering of the multi-media sequence on the end-users terminal, which could be any one of a variety of devices, including a desktop PC, or a hand-held device.

摘要: A system and method for localizing imaging devices in a network using images taken by the imaging devices. The relative position and orientation of a network of camera-equipped communications devices are obtained by having each device examine images taken by its camera. The devices are also equipped with controllable light sources that vary their output in a predetermined manner. This variation is found in images and used to identify the devices in view and to define epipolar points related to the other imaging devices in view. Common reference points in the image are also identified. The imaging devices then exchange details of the epipolar and common reference points with each other, and use them to obtain their relative position and orientation.

摘要: A method and a device for encoding and reconstructing computer-generated video holograms using a conventional LC display: it provides holographic reconstruction of three-dimensional scenes using electronically controllable pixel in a holographic array (3) with a conventional resolution, and is reasonably free from flickering and cross-talk. Reconstruction is in real time, and for both eyes at the same time, over a large viewing zone. The method takes advantage of an optical focusing means (2) in order to image vertically coherent light emitted by a line light source (1) into viewing windows (8R, 8L) after modulation by the pixel array (3). The holographic reconstruction (11) of the scene is rendered visible from viewing windows (8R, 8L) for both eyes of an observer by way of diffraction at the pixels. According to the invention, the controllable pixels are disposed in vertical pixel columns (15, 16), which encode separate holograms of the same scene for each of the viewer's eyes (R, L), where said holograms are one-dimensional in the vertical direction and horizontally interleaved. An image separation means (7) with separating elements arranged parallel to the pixel columns reveals the respective pixel columns (15, 15′ or 16, 16′) for one eye and covers them for the other eye.

摘要: Highly multiplexed homogeneous in vitro screening assays for numerous possible nucleic acid targets, any of which might be present in a sample, utilize fluorescent hybridization probes that are combinatorially coded from a panel of fluorophores by subdividing each probe into portions and differently labeling each portion such that, when portions are combined, each probe has a unique code. The assays may include target amplification and real-time detection. Probe sets and kits containing additional assay reagents may be used to perform the screening assays.

摘要: A preferred embodiment of a lifting device includes a mounting column having a first major portion extending in a first direction, and a second major portion fixedly coupled to the first major portion and extending in a second direction. The lifting device also comprises a lifting arm rotatably mounted on the second major portion of the mounting column and having a first hole formed therein for receiving a pin, a bracket fixedly coupled to the second portion of the mounting column and having a second hole formed therein for receiving the pin so that the pin restrains the lifting arm from substantial rotation about the second major portion of the mounting column, and a retaining member secured to the second major portion of the mounting column so that the bracket and the retaining member restrain the lifting arm from substantial movement in the second direction.
