    摘要: Provided is a polarizing element having excellent optical properties and high light resistance to intense light. This polarizing element is provided with a transparent substrate, an absorbing layer disposed on the transparent substrate and constituting grid-shaped convexities arrayed at a pitch smaller than the wavelengths in the optical bandwidth used, a dielectric layer formed on the absorbing layer, and a reflective layer formed on the dielectric layer. Because the absorbing layer, which interferes with and absorbs light, is in contact with the transparent substrate, heat dissipation can be improved and heat resistance of the polarizing plate can be improved.

    摘要: A magnetic material comprises 50-80 wt % of Cobalt, 9-15 wt% of Nickel, 10-25 wt% of Rhenium, 0.1 to 2.0 wt% of Phosphorus, and 5-10 wt % of Tungsten or Platinum. It can be formed as a layer having good vertical magnetic properties (e.g. when magnetised it can provide a high magnetic field strength in the direction perpendicular to the plane of the layer). The layer preferably has a thickness of above 1 μm. It can be formed by electroplating. The layer is useful for inclusion in a MEMS device.

    摘要: A micro-rotating device has a rotor 200 (of diameter not more than 1.5 cm), a shaft 202 threaded through the rotor 200, and a shaft holder 207 for holding the shaft. The shaft holders are formed by etching an Si substrate 501 to form multiple shaft receiving openings 508. The rotors and shafts too are formed from respective Si substrates 301, 401. The rotors 200 are located over the shaft holders 207, and the shafts threaded through the rotors 200 into the openings 509 and attached there by a wafer bonding process. Then the substrate 501 is partitioned to give individual motor elements. Protrusions 206 extend from the rotor in the direction towards the stator to space the rotor from the shaft holder.

A magneto-electrical material is mounted on the substrate such that the magneto-electrical material is subjected to the magnetic field generated by the magnetised member. A movable member is mounted for oscillation in response to an oscillating force. Oscillation of the movable member causes a change in the magnetic field experienced by the magneto-electrical material and an electrical property of the electro-electrical material changes in response to changes in the magnetic field experienced by the magneto-electrical material due to oscillation of the movable member.

    摘要: A thin-film magnetic head improves magnetic stability of a magnetoresistance effect film 13 for further stabilizing the playback output. The thin-film magnetic head has a magnetoresistance effect stabilizing layer 11, a non-magnetic layer 12 and a magnetoresistance effect layer 13 exhibiting the magnetoresistance effect. The magnetoresistance effect stabilizing layer 11 has a hard magnetic film and a soft magnetic film. The magnetoresistance effect stabilizing layer 11 has a non-magnetic film 11c of a non-magnetic material in at least a partial area between a hard magnetic film 11b and a soft magnetic film 11d. In the thin-film magnetic head, there is produced a stable magnetostatic coupling action between the magnetoresistance effect stabilizing layer 11 and the magnetoresistance effect layer 13 for increasing the magnetic stability of the magnetoresistance effect layer 13 operating as a magnetically sensitive portion.

    摘要: A magneto-resistance effect type thin-film magnetic head for detecting reproduced signals by the magneto-resistance effect, which is suitable for detecting reproduced signals by magneto-resistance effects, is disclosed. The thin-film magnetic head includes a two-layered magneto-resistance effect element made up of a first magneto-resistance effect film and a second magneto-resistance effect film of substantially the same width as the first magneto-resistance effect film, layered with a non-magnetic insulating film in-between. Since the magneto-static coupling is produced between the first and second MR films, the magnetic state between the first and second MR films is stabilized. The film thickness contributing to the playback output can be reduced as in the case of a single-layer magnetic head constituted by a single-layer MR film for realizing a high playback output.
