Abstract:
A multiple element emitter package is disclosed for increasing color fidelity and heat dissipation, improving current control, increasing rigidity of the package assembly. In one embodiment, the package comprises a surface-mount device a casing with a cavity extending into the interior of the casing from a first main surface is provided. A lead frame is at least partially encased by the casing, the lead frame comprising a plurality of electrically conductive parts carrying a linear array of light emitting devices (LEDs). Electrically conductive parts, separate from parts carrying the LEDs have a connection pad, wherein the LEDs are electrically coupled to a connection pad, such as by a wire bond. This lead frame arrangement allows for a respective electrical signal can be applied to each of the LEDs. The emitter package may be substantially waterproof, and an array of the emitter packages may be used in an LED display such as an indoor and/or outdoor LED screen.
Abstract:
A method is disclosed for application layer message-based network element management of server failures. According to one aspect, a network element such as a router intercepts session state information that is contained in a request from a client and locally stores the session state information. As a result, application servers to which the requests are directed do not need to store the session state information. If an application server fails, then the network element can use the session state information stored at the network element to continue the session with another application server, transparently to the client application that is involved in the session.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the invention place surface-mount such as decoupling capacitors, resistors or other devices directly on the underside of a ball grid array (BGA) electronic integrated circuit (EIC) package, between BGA pads.
Abstract:
A land pattern for 1 mm and 0.8 mm pitch arrays has been disclosed for placing two port devices. The land pattern includes a ball grid array (BGA) of BGA pads each connected to a respective through hole via, and a pair of rectangular conductive pads electrically connected to a an adjacent pair of through hole vias, wherein each rectangular pad extends out from its via towards the other via of the pair along a line connecting the centers of said adjacent pair vias. A solder mask is located on the rectangular pad side and has apertures over each rectangular conductive pad. The land pattern is particularly useful for locating two port devices directly underneath a BGA device while minimizing the distance from a BGA ball to the two port device lead.
Abstract:
In one embodiment, a surface-mount device comprises a casing having opposed, first and second main surfaces, side surfaces, and end surfaces. A lead frame partially encased by the casing comprises (1) an electrically conductive LED chip carrier part having a surface carrying a linear array of LEDs adapted to be energized to produce in combination a substantially full range of colors, each LED having a first electrical terminal and a second electrical terminal, the first terminal of each of the LEDs being electrically and thermally coupled to the chip carrying surface of the chip carrier part; and (2) electrically conductive connection parts separate from the chip carrier part, each of the connection parts having a connection pad, the second terminal of each of the LEDs being electrically coupled to the connection pad of a corresponding one of the connection parts with a single wire bond. The linear array of LEDs extends in a first direction, and each of the chip carrier part and connection parts has a lead. The leads may be disposed in parallel relationship with each other and extend through the end surfaces of the casing in a second direction, the second direction being orthogonal to the first direction. An array of the surface-mount devices may be used in an LED display such as an indoor LED screen.
Abstract:
A multilayered printed wiring board having a ball grid array (BGA) land pattern in which each land in the pattern is connected to a respective via by a link connector, a method of adapting spacing between selected adjacent via and respective link pairs to receive decoupling capacitor pads, comprising rotating, elongating and/or truncating the selected adjacent pairs and rotating their respective corresponding via pairs to adapt the spacing between the selected adjacent via pairs in the BGA land pattern and applying the capacitor pads to the selected via pairs. The selected adjacent via pairs and their respective link connectors are rotated, elongated and/or truncated in mutually opposite directions.
Abstract:
A method is disclosed for reducing the sizes of application layer messages in a network element such as a network switch or router. According to one aspect, the network element receives data packets and determines an original application layer message that is collectively contained in payload portions of the data packets. The network element compresses the original application layer message into a compressed message, and sends the compressed message toward an application that is hosted on a device other than the network element. According to another aspect, the network element receives data packets and determines a compressed message that is collectively contained in payload portions of the data packets. The network element decompresses the compressed message into an original application layer message, and sends the original application layer message toward an application that is hosted on a device other than the network element. Compressed messages consume less network bandwidth.
Abstract:
A method is disclosed for high-speed processing of structured application messages in a network device. According to one aspect, a network device receives a set of message classification rules that have been prepared beforehand by a system administrator or customer. The system analyzes the message classification rules to determine what part(s) of the message are necessary to classify a message according to the message classification rules. This allows the system to consider only the relevant parts of the message and ignore the rest of the message. The system extracts the portion of the message necessary for classifying the message and classifies the message using the values of the extracted information and the message classification rules. A unique sequence of operations is implied by the message classification and those operations must then be applied to the message.
Abstract:
A traffic warning mat apparatus is provided for use in combination with a vehicle of a type having a trunk lid pivotally attached to the vehicle. A mat is adapted to be disposed on the rear of an automobile. A light reflecting material is disposed on one side of the mat for making the mat highly visible to vehicles with headlights which shine onto the mat or, under daylight conditions, can be easily seen. Straps are connected between the top of the mat and a gutter hook which extends around the front end of the trunk lid. Straps are attached to the bottom of the mat and have gutter hooks thereon for attachment to the underside of a vehicle or to the bottom of a bumper thereof. Additionally, straps are connected to the side edges of the mat and these straps have gutter hooks on one end thereof for attachment to the bottom rear ledge of the trunk lid. Each of the aforementioned straps include mechanisms for tightening the straps for securing the mat on the rear of the automobile when in use.
