Abstract:
Methods and compositions for synergistic pre-emergent and post-emergent weed control are disclosed. In particular, the present disclosure relates to an herbicidal composition comprising at least one pre-emergent herbicide and at least one post-emergent herbicide, wherein the pre-emergent herbicide and the post-emergent herbicide synergistically inhibit pre-emergent and post-emergent development of a weed. The disclosure further relates to herbicidal compositions comprising isoxaben, 2,4-D, mecoprop-P, and dicamba.
Abstract:
Nitroaromatic compounds and immunogenic conjugates comprising a novel nitroaromatic compound and a carrier protein are disclosed. The invention further presents monoclonal antibodies highly specific for the claimed nitroaromatic compounds, the compounds' protein conjugates, the compounds' reductive byproducts, and adducts formed between the compounds and mammalian hypoxic cell tissue proteins. The invention is further directed to methods for detecting tissue hypoxia using immunohistological techniques, non-invasive nuclear medicinal methods, or nuclear magnetic resonance. Diagnostic kits useful in practicing the methods of claimed invention are also provided.
Abstract:
A system and method for the rapid and visual web-based development of web-based customer service applications which render rich graphical user interfaces emulating the controls common to traditional desktop applications is disclosed. The rich user interface applications are comprised of scripting languages built with standard browser-based protocols and thus do not require the installation of any additional client-side or proprietary software applications. Not only is the user able to work on a rich user interface web application, but this application then allows the user to create, or develop, another web-based rich-thin-client application using visual programming tools.

Abstract:
Asymmetric hydrogenation of prochiral N-arylketimines to give optically active secondary amines at a temperature from -40.degree. to 80.degree. C., under a hydrogen pressure of 10.sup.6 to 10.sup.8 Pa and with the addition of catalytic amounts of a rhodium compound of the formula III or IIIa ##STR1## in which X is 2 olefin ligands or a diene ligand, Y is a chiral diphosphine in which the secondary phosphine groups are linked by 2-4 C atoms and which, together with the Rh atom, forms a 5-membered, 6-membered or 7-membered ring, or Y is a chiral disphosphinite in which the phosphinite groups are linked via 2 C atoms and which, together with the Rh atom, forms a 7-membered ring, Z is Cl, Br or I and A.sup.- is the anion of an oxygen acid or complex acid.

Abstract:
A method for the bleaching and brightness stabilization of lignocellulosic materials is described. The method involves the treatment of lignocellulosic materials, in particular, (a) wood pulps such as thermomechanical pulps (TMP) and chemithermomechanical pulps (CTMP), and (b) papers made from wood pulps, with a water-soluble phosphine or a phosphonium compound preferably containing at least one phosphorus hydroxyalkyl bond/linkage, for example a phosphorus hydroxymethyl bond/linkage (P—CH2OH). One example of such a water-soluble phosphine is the commercially available, tris(hydroxymethyl)phosphine (THP), P(CH2OH)3. One example of such a phosphonium compound is the commercially available, tetrakis(hydroxymethyl)phosphonium chloride (THPC), [P(CH2OH)4]Cl.
Abstract:
A process of abstracting sulfur from H.sub.2 S and generating hydrogen is disclosed comprising dissolving Pd.sub.2 X.sub.2 (.mu.-dppm).sub.2 in a solvent and then introducing H.sub.2 S. The palladium complex abstracts sulfur, forming hydrogen and a (.mu.-S) complex. The (.mu.-S) complex is readily oxidizable to a (.mu.-SO.sub.2) adduct which spontaneously loses SO.sub.2 and regenerates the palladium complex.
