Abstract:
An airflow shaper for use in an air cleaner is provided according to an embodiment of the invention. The airflow shaper includes a body including a substantially central axis and a raised central region formed on the body. The raised central region transitions an impinging axial airflow into a substantially radial airflow or transitions an impinging radial airflow into a substantial axial airflow.
Abstract:
A vacuum cleaner according to an embodiment of the invention includes a chassis, a fan unit including a blower housing mounted to the chassis and an inlet housing affixed to the blower housing, and a baseplate affixed to the chassis. An access aperture is formed in the baseplate. The access aperture extends at least partially over the fan unit. A door can be included in the baseplate. A bearing washer is positioned between the blower housing and the inlet housing and provides a substantially air-tight seal between the blower housing and the inlet housing. The inlet housing includes a bearing face, an inlet conduit portion, a slide flange, and a slide block. The slide block slides into and engages the slide flange and further slides into and engages the chassis of the vacuum cleaner.
Abstract:
An air cleaner is provided according to an embodiment of the invention. The air cleaner includes a volatile memory including an air cleaner state memory element and a non-volatile memory including an air cleaner state backup memory element. The air cleaner is configured to store an air cleaner state to the air cleaner state memory element of the volatile memory and store the air cleaner state to the air cleaner state backup memory element of the non-volatile memory.
Abstract:
A clamp device for removably attaching a vacuum cleaner component to a structure according to an embodiment of the invention includes a clamp adapted to removably attach to the structure, a slot formed in the clamp, and a knob attached to the vacuum cleaner component. The knob slides into the slot of the clamp and the vacuum cleaner component is removably held in the clamp by the knob.
Abstract:
An air cleaner is provided according to the invention. The air cleaner includes a printed circuit board (PCB) configured to operate the air cleaner and a diagnostics circuit. The diagnostics circuit is configured to receive a predetermined diagnostic initiation sequence in the air cleaner, initiate a diagnostics process for one or more operational features of the air cleaner in response to the predetermined diagnostic initiation sequence, and generate a diagnostics determination as a result of the diagnostics process.
Abstract:
A pre-ionizer for use with an electrostatic precipitator is provided according to an embodiment of the invention. The pre-ionizer includes two or more corona ground elements arranged in a substantially parallel orientation. A corona ground element of the two or more corona ground elements includes a substantially elongate body including a proximate end and a distal end and first and second projections formed on the proximate end and the distal end. The first and second projections retain the corona ground element in the electrostatic precipitator. The pre-ionizer further includes one or more corona charge elements positioned between two adjacent corona ground elements of the two or more corona ground elements. When a high voltage electrical field is placed across the two or more corona ground elements and the one or more corona charge elements, the pre-ionizer at least partially ionizes airflow through the pre-ionizer.
Abstract:
A vacuum cleaner air/liquid separator is provided according to the invention. The separator includes an offset air/liquid airflow inlet for receiving an air/liquid airflow, with the offset air/liquid airflow inlet possessing a width and a height. The separator further includes a substantially cylindrical separator chamber communicating with the offset air/liquid airflow inlet, wherein the offset air/liquid airflow inlet is radially offset from the separator chamber. The separator further includes a lead-in track extending from the offset air/liquid airflow inlet and at least partially around the circumference of the separator chamber. The lead-in track tapers from substantially the width of the offset air/liquid airflow inlet into the separator chamber. The air/liquid airflow is entrained into a downward spiraling path in the separator chamber by the lead-in track.
