Abstract:
A fault injection circuit injects a test signal into a data bus with a normal high logic level and a normal low logic level. The test signal has a greater logic level greater than the normal high logic level of the data bus or a lower logic level lower than the normal low logic level of the data bus. An analog-to-digital converter is coupled to a voltage level detector for sensing an aggregate level of an aggregate signal on the data bus. The aggregate signal is composed of the termination circuit signal and the test signal. A diagnostic tool determines whether a faulty connection between the data bus and a network device exists, where the sensed aggregate level exceeds at least one of the normal high logic level and the normal low logic level.
Abstract:
An electronic data processing system comprises a first application program that is capable of operating in a first mode and a second mode. The first mode comprises software emulation of a vehicle data bus and one or more network elements. The second mode comprises communications access to the vehicle bus and the one or more network elements. The electronic data processing system is capable of executing an operating system. A virtual bus server application comprises a shared memory and a message router. The operating system facilitates communication between at least two dynamic link libraries in shared memory. The message router is capable of routing data messages between the first application and a first hardware module as a network element in the second mode. A first dynamic link library interface provides an interface between the first application program and the virtual bus server application. The first dynamic link library is capable of communicating with the shared memory of the virtual bus server application. A second dynamic link library interface provides an interface between the virtual bus server application and the first hardware module. The second dynamic link library is capable of communicating with the shared memory of the virtual bus server application.
Abstract:
In a photography method, a determination is made that a set of captured images includes one or more encoded captured images having a partial shading encodement. The encodement has a predetermined edge pattern and is disposed within a predetermined subarea of an image. An encoded captured image is digitized to provide a digital image having a plurality of pixels. A plurality of pixel templates of an edge pattern and the pixels in the subarea of the digital image are convolved to provide a plurality of template position metrics. Each pixel template has the same shape. Each pixel template is differently located in said subarea. The highest of the template position metrics and a predetermined threshold template position metric value of the edge pattern are compared. The digital image is digitally modified when said highest template position metric matches the threshold template position metric value.
Abstract:
An interface control assembly for a one-time-use camera having a recording device includes a controller for receiving and storing photofinishing information and a communication device that transfers the information from the controller to the recording device of the camera to cause the information to be written on a filmstrip. The photography arrangement includes a one-time-use camera as well as the interface control arrangement. This permits the one-time-use camera to be customized with a magnetic recording on the film while providing the expensive components involved in magnetic recording on the film outside of the camera.
Abstract:
In a method for associating a film unit and a one-time use camera, a first copy of a unique identifier is recorded on the film unit. A logical memory unit and the identifier are associated. The logical memory unit is physically remote from the film unit. The film unit is loaded in the one-time use camera body. A second copy of the unique identifier is recorded on the one-time use camera body. The second copy is accessible independent of the film unit.
Abstract:
A method keeps photographic film current. In the method, a logical memory unit is allocated to the photographic film unit. The logical memory unit is remote from the film unit. A plurality of photofinishing parameters for the film unit are designated. The logical memory unit is maintained for a time period sufficient to cause aging. The photofinishing parameters are updated counteractive to the aging and photofinishing can then be performed using the updated parameters for the film unit.
Abstract:
A viewfinder for a camera includes a front masking portion and a movable rear masking portion for providing multiple frame-defining formats in a viewing area. According to the invention, the front masking portion includes a pair of independently movable masking plates which are separately attached to the rear masking portion by a pair of cam follower levers which allow one of the front masking plates to move into the field of view of the viewfinder when the rear masking portion is moved a first increment and to move the other front masking plate into the viewfinder field of view when the rear masking portion is moved a second increment. An overcenter spring assists in effecting each of the format defining positions.
Abstract:
To find a reference exposure located on a non-perforated leading and/or trailing portion of a filmstrip in conformity with picture-taking exposures made on the filmstrip between successive pairs of evenly spaced exposure-locating perforations in the filmstrip, a pair of perforation sensors are spaced apart a distance which is the same as the pitch of the exposure-locating perforations. When one of the two sensors detects an exposure-locating perforation and the other does not, the reference exposure made on the leading or trailing portion is found.
Abstract:
A photographic film cassette is provided with a radial bar coded disk having first and second arcuate segments of differing radial lengths to form a gap between the disk and a circumferential lip of the cassette housing. When the cassette is removed from a camera after the film has been fully or partially exposed, the gap is positioned so as to align with a double exposure prevention hook in the camera. During a subsequent attempt to insert the cassette into the camera, the hook enters the gap and engages the housing lip to thereby prevent complete insertion of the cassette.
Abstract:
A take-up spool in a camera comprises a cylindrically-shaped major core portion having an outer peripheral surface for supporting a filmstrip, a minor core portion arranged coaxially with respect to the major core portion and having an outer peripheral surface located radially inward of the outer peripheral surface of the major core portion, and a plurality of film catching members projecting from the outer peripheral surface of the minor core portion. A series of film guiding surfaces equal in number to the number of film catching members extend radially between the respective peripheral surfaces of the major and minor core portions. Each of the film guiding surfaces is inclined at substantially the same angle as a tapered leading end of the filmstrip to guide the filmstrip toward one of the film catching members. The film catching members extend radially outward only as far as the outer peripheral surface of the major core portion to enable at least one of the film catching members to support the filmstrip in conformity with that peripheral surface.
