    摘要: Disclosed are antiperspirant compositions which comprise from about 0.1% to about 50% by weight of solubilized antiperspirant active (e.g., aluminum containing materials or aluminum-zirconium containing materials), and from about 0.1% to about 99.9% by weight of a liquid polyol having at least 2 hydroxyl groups, liquid polyol having adjacent hydroxy-substituted carbon atoms at the &agr; and &bgr; positions of the liquid polyol but not more than 4 adjacent hydroxy-substituted carbon atoms in the liquid polyol, wherein the liquid polyol conforms to the formula: wherein R is an amide, ester, alkyl, ether or silicone and contains at least 3 adjacent atoms selected from the group consisting of carbon, non-hydroxy oxygen, nitrogen, silicone and combinations thereof, and wherein the liquid polyol has a C log P value of from about −4.0 to about 2.0. These antiperspirant compositions and corresponding methods of application provide improved antiperspirant efficacy, cosmetics, and mildness. These compositions can also be used as base or intermediate materials to formulate other antiperspirant product forms providing similar performance benefits.

    摘要: Disclosed are anhydrous antiperspirant cream compositions that are substantially free of polymeric or inorganic thickening, and have improved product stability and spreading performance. These compositions have a rheology profile characterized by select product hardness (from about 75 gram force to about 500 gram force), delta stress (from about 300 dyne/cm.sup.2 to about 8,000 dyne/cm.sup.2) and static yield stress (at least about 1,000 dyne/cm.sup.2) values. The new rheology profile is preferably applied to antiperspirant cream compositions comprising from about 0.1% to about 20% by weight of a crystalline gellant, from about 10% to about 80% by weight of an anhydrous liquid carrier for the crystalline gellant having a solubility parameter of from about 3 to about 13 and, from about 5% to about 35% by weight of a particulate antiperspirant active. Also disclosed are methods of using and making the compositions, and packaged compositions having a shear force delivery means for applying the composition to the axilla or other area of the skin. The disclosed compositions are especially effective at minimizing or eliminating solvent syneresis during packaging, storage, transport or during extrusion through a perforated mesh cap or other shear force delivery means.

    摘要: Methods for making antiperspirant products in the form of emulsions are provided, wherein the emulsion comprises a continuous water-immiscible phase and a disperse aqueous phase comprising an antiperspirant active. The method comprises the steps of providing a water-immiscible liquid, providing an aqueous solution comprising an antiperspirant active, preparing an emulsion comprising a continuous phase including the water-immiscible liquid and a disperse phase including the aqueous solution, heating the emulsion to a temperature between about 60° C. and about 110° C., providing a structurant that is at least partially dissolved, adding the heated emulsion to the at least partially dissolved structurant to form an emulsified antiperspirant composition, and transferring the emulsified antiperspirant into a dispensing container within about 2 hours of initiating the heating step.

    摘要: The present invention is directed to deodorant compositions, and methods of using such compositions, wherein the compositions comprise from about 0.1% to about 99.9% by weight of a deodorant active, fragrance or combination thereof, and from about 0.1% to about 99.9% by weight of a carrier comprising isopropyl glycerol ether. The deodorant composition preferably further comprises a suitable gellant or structurant to provide the desired product form, including a deodorant gel solid stick. The isopropyl glycerol ether carrier is a highly effective coupling agent and is milder to the skin when applied topically to the axilla or other areas of the skin as compared to many other polyol-containing deodorant compositions. The present invention also relates to the use of triclosan/triclocarban combinations for improved deodorant efficacy.
