    摘要: A system according to the principles of the present disclosure includes a threshold determination module and a misfire detection module. The threshold determination module determines at least one of an acceleration threshold and a jerk threshold based on a misfire type. The misfire detection module detects a misfire in a cylinder of an engine when: (i) crankshaft acceleration is less than the acceleration threshold; and/or (ii) crankshaft jerk is less than the jerk threshold. Crankshaft jerk is a derivative of crankshaft acceleration with respect to time.

    摘要: A system for a vehicle includes a time stamping module, a period determination module, a stochastic pre-ignition (SPI) indication module, and an SPI remediation module. The time stamping module generates first and second timestamps when a crankshaft of an engine is in first and second crankshaft positions during an engine cycle, respectively. The period determination module determines a period between the first and second timestamps. The SPI indication module selectively indicates that an SPI event occurred within a cylinder of the engine based on the period. The SPI remediation module selectively adjusts at least one engine operating parameter in response to the SPI indication module indicating that the SPI event occurred within the cylinder.

The method includes detecting a first engine speed at a first crankshaft position that corresponds to about a top dead center compression position of a first piston within a first cylinder and detecting a second engine speed at a second crankshaft position that corresponds to about a position subsequent to the top dead center compression position. The method determines whether the misfire occurred in the first cylinder based on the first engine speed and the second engine speed. The method provides an improved signal to noise ratio for engine misfire detection.

    摘要: A rough road detection system for an engine having a crankshaft includes a control module and a comparison module. The control module receives a crankshaft speed signal and determines a crankshaft rotation time and a crankshaft acceleration and jerk. The crankshaft rotation time is based on said crankshaft speed signal. The crankshaft acceleration and jerk are based on said crankshaft rotation time. The control module detects a crankshaft disturbance based on said crankshaft acceleration and jerk and counts a number of crankshaft disturbances. The comparison module determines a dispersion value and asymmetry value based on the crankshaft disturbances and determined whether rough road conditions exist based on first and second comparisons. The first comparison is between the dispersion value and a first predetermined threshold. The second comparison is between the asymmetry value and a second predetermined threshold.

The apparatus comprises an electronic controller that calculates an expected time period for a cylinder event during which fuel is combusted in a cylinder to provide an expected time period value. The time period of the cylinder event is measured to provide a measured time period value. The difference between the expected time period value and the measured time period value is calculated to provide a difference time period value. The difference time period value is compared to a predetermined threshold time. The misfire indication signal is provided in response to the difference time period value exceeding the predetermined threshold time.

    摘要: An ignition timing control method for a vehicle which provides an engine torque output waveform for canceling vibrational disturbances caused by sudden throttle plate movement resulting in engine accelerations and decelerations. The ignition timing is variably advanced and retarded in accordance with a phase-shifted derivative of engine speed to produce an appropriate engine torque output waveform for optimally canceling the vehicle vibrational disturbances. The phase shift is accomplished by applying a time delay to the engine speed derivative. A negative bias is added to the ignition timing for retarding ignition timing by a predetermined amount to permit a full sinusoidal canceling waveform. A blend multiplier is utilized to gradually remove the effects of the canceling waveform and bias, thereby gradually returning the ignition timing to its original setting.
