摘要: A method and apparatus for providing uplink signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) estimation in a wireless communication system. A first signal is received over a first channel and a second signal is received over a second channel, where the second signal is received at a higher signal power level than said first signal. A signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the second signal is measured, and the SNR of the first signal is determined based at least in part upon the measured SNR of the second signal.

摘要: Techniques to mitigate the effects of link imbalance for the uplink between a terminal (or UE) and multiple base stations (or Node Bs). In one aspect, the serving base station (i.e., the one designated to transmit packet data to the terminal) monitors the uplink received SNR for each terminal designated to receive packet data transmission. The serving base station then determines, based on the uplink received SNR and an SNR threshold, whether or not link imbalance potentially exists for each such terminal. In another aspect, if it is determined that link imbalance potentially exists, then a 3-way handshake is performed to check the reliability of a feedback mechanism used for packet data transmission. Appropriate responsive actions may then be performed based on the result of the check.

摘要: A method and apparatus provides for efficient use of communication resources in a CDMA communication system (100) by selecting, at a time prior to a first time period (401), a first mobile station to receive transmission during the first time period (401) on a downlink shared channel, and selecting, at a time prior to the first time period (401), a second mobile station to receive transmission during a second time period (402) on the downlink shared channel. Transmission power level of a downlink shared control channel is determined for transmission to the second mobile station during an overlapping time period (403) with the first time period (401), and the transmission power level of the downlink shared channel for transmission during the first time period (401) is determined based on at least the determined transmission power level of the downlink shared control channel during the overlapping time period (403).

摘要: Systems and methods for evaluating packets and frames in a wireless communication system having multiple reverse-link channels including a spontaneous, burst oriented transmission channel and its corresponding rate indicator channel. One embodiment comprises a base station monitoring the rate indicator channel, decoding the rate indicator channel using a maximum likelihood decoder and detecting the presence of a packet on the rate indicator channel by comparing a likelihood with a threshold, and analyzing the validity of a frame on the burst oriented channel based on the presence and content of packets received on the rate indicator channel.

摘要: An outer decoder and an inner decoder encode a block of information to be transmitted, to improve protection by adding redundancy. The redundancy permits decoding of the information from less than a complete encoded block of information. Time re-alignment of two transmissions of the same content from two base stations can mitigate the problem of duplicated frames. The user of the subscriber station can experience seamless service without repetition of content, even when handing over to a new cell while receiving a buffer of broadcast content.

摘要: An outer decoder and an inner decoder encode a block of information to be transmitted, to improve protection by adding redundancy. The redundancy permits decoding of the information from less than a complete encoded block of information. Time re-alignment of two transmissions of the same content from two base stations can mitigate the problem of clipped frames. The user of the subscriber station can experience seamless service without loss of content, even when handing over to a new cell while receiving a buffer of broadcast content.
