Abstract:
A photographic processor includes a cleaning arrangement which comprises a transducer and an ultrasonic probe. In the system and method of the present invention, a cleaning cycle can be automatically initiated in a batch photographic processor. The automatic cleaning cycle involves the selected control of the transducer and the ultrasonic probe so as to place the probe in contact with cleaning solution in the processor, and the application of ultrasonic energy to the cleaning solution. In order to enhance the cleaning operation during a cleaning cycle, a circular processing drum of the photographic processor can be rotated slowly or intermittently to allow enough cleaning energy to be delivered to various components of the photographic processor.

A method of disposing of photographic silver halide processing solutions including developer, bleach and at least one silver bearing solution comprising a) combining the developer and bleach solutions to oxidize the developing agent in the developer and form a developer/bleach waste solution, b) treating the silver bearing solution(s) to reduce the silver ion level and form a low silver waste solution; and c) contacting the developer/bleach waste solution and the low silver waste solution with an absorbent material to form an apparently dry waste material having a leachable silver ion level below 5 ppm.

The present invention relates to a photographic processor which includes a circular processing drum and a metering blade assembly provided within the drum. The metering blade assembly is adapted to control or meter an amount of processing solution provided on film to be processed in the film path. The metering blade assembly is adjustable so as to accommodate 35 mm or APS film in the photographic processor. The metering blade assembly is also attached to a support assembly or member which further supports an agitating roller. With the arrangement of the present invention, it is possible to adjust the width of both the agitating roller and the metering blade in accordance with the type of film to be processed in the photographic processor.

A delivery system and method for delivering a processing solution to a processing tank in a processor containing a processing solution. The delivery system is designed to provide a replenishment solution to the processing tank from a package having at least two separate containers. Each of the containers having a processing solution that is to be provided to the at least one processing tank. The delivery system substantially empties each of the at least two separate containers in the package in an accurate predetermined rate so that all of the at least two containers in the package will be substantially empty at the same time. The delivery system includes a mechanism for filling and emptying the predetermined amount of replenishment solution from the retaining vessel in response to the liquid level sensing system.

A substrate has a surface printed with an ink or coating composition with excellent adhesion and dry rub resistance, and very good oil and saline rub resistance (crock) properties using a multi-functional carbodiimide as a crosslinker for nonwoven substrates. The rub performance of the ink or coating printed on a nonwoven substrate has been found to be superior to that of a first Sun benchmark ink including pigments for four color printing. In another embodiment, a carbodiimide crosslinker such as multifunctional Carbodilite SV-02 is added to the compositions to further improve rub resistance (crock) and retain liquid characteristics post inoculation when compared to compositions using aziridine as a crosslinker. In a further embodiment, a thin polyolefin film exemplifying a backsheet of a hygiene product was printed with the same crosslinked ink or coating composition and compared with a second Sun benchmark set of inks.

The present invention relates to a photographic processor and a method of processing photographic material where heat is applied to a processing drum in a manner which requires less warm up time and permits better film processing uniformity. The system of the present invention includes a circular drum and a heating material provided either on an outer surface of the drum, embedded into a side wall of the drum, or provided in an interior surface of the drum. The heating material is adapted to be heated so as to heat the processing path through which film is conveyed during processing, to an appropriate temperature for the processing of the photographic material.
