摘要： Apparatus for processing the damaged tubes of a steam generator either to prepare the tubes for insertion of a sleeve, or to insert a sleeve or to treat the sleeve after it is inserted. This apparatus includes a drilling tool for drilling out plugs, a sleeving tool for inserting sleeves in the tubes, a high-roller tool for rolling the sleeves at their upper ends where they have been expanded, and a low-roller tool for rolling the sleeves at their lower ends in the tube sheet. The sleeves are inserted in the tubes and are rolled by rolls driven by a hydraulic motor. For drilling, for sleeve insertion and for high and low rolling, the motor is controlled by a servo control valve.

摘要： The sleeving method comprises inserting a metal sleeve within a tube so as to bridge the defective region of the tube. The sleeve is constructed to have teeth on the outside thereof that are capable of tightly contacting the inside surface of the defective tube and creating a labyrinth-type seal therebetween. Once such a sleeve has been inserted into the defective tube, the sleeve is internally expanded in the area of the sleeve wherein the teeth are located. The expansion of the sleeve in the area wherein the teeth are located causes the teeth to closely contact the inside surface of the tube. The other end of the sleeve can then be either similarly attached to the tube or welded to the tube. Next, the remainder of the sleeve is internally expanded which causes the sleeve to shrink in length which results in the teeth slightly penetrating the inside surface of the tube thereby creating a leak tight seal therebetween.

摘要： An eddy current probe for mapping holes within a tube sheet of a steam generator, having a first coil (12) positioned at the top of the probe (10) with its axis coincident with the axis of the probe. A first coil pair (14 and 16) is arranged along a common axis perpendicular to the axis of the probe below the first coil (12) and is situated a distance from and on either side of the axis of the probe. A second pair of eddy current coils (18 and 20) is positioned along a common axis perpendicular to the axis of the probe and the axis of the first coil pair with the respective coils of the second pair located on either side of and spaced from the probe axis. Each of the respective coils are arranged to be separately excited by an alternating current source with the respective coil pairs coupled in opposition in corresponding balanced bridge arrangements. Means are provided for indicating a variation in the impedance of the first coil and an imbalance in either of the separate bridge arrangements of the first and second coil pairs.

摘要： The segmented flexible hone comprises spirally wound high pressure tubing for conducting a lubricant therethrough with multiple bristled segments for contacting the inner surfaces of tubular holes so that contaminants and metal may be removed from the inner surfaces of the tubular holes. The bristled segments comprise compliant nylon bristles having enlarged abrasive globules attached to the outer end of the bristles in a non-flaking and a non-chipping manner. The bristled segments are separated by intervals along the high pressure tubing wherein no bristles are disposed but wherein the tubing has holes so that a lubricant mist may exit at high pressures and in a mist therefrom. The segmented flexible hone may be attached to a high pressure lubricant source and a mechanism for rotating the hone such that the ends of the bristles contact the inner surfaces of the members to be honed while a mist of lubricant is emitted from the holes in the high pressure tubing.

摘要： Apparatus for processing the damaged tubes of a steam generator. This apparatus includes a sleeving tool for inserting sleeves in the tubes, a high-roller tool for rolling the sleeves at their upper ends where they have been expanded, and a low-roller tool for rolling the sleeves at their lower ends in the tube sheet. Each tool is provided with locking pins which engage tubes adjacent to a tube to be processed and suspend the tool in processing position. The sleeves are inserted in the tubes and are rolled by rolls driven by a hydraulic motor. For sleeve insertion and for high and low rolling, the motor is controlled by a servo control valve. The feedback signal to this valve is derived from a flow transducer in the feed line for the motor. The feedback for the force of sleeve insertion is the pressure across the motor derived from pressure transducers in the conductors through which the motor is supplied. For insertion speed and for rolling speed, the feedback is derived from a fluid-flow transducer. The passage of fluid through the servo valve is capable of varying continuously responsive the controlling error signal. The cage or roll tube and mandrel of the low roller are advanced into the sleeve by a piston of a hydraulic cylinder. The flow of fluid to the locking pins and to this hydraulic cylinder is controlled by a directional control valve.
