    Abstract: A quick disconnect spray nozzle assembly having a nozzle body for connection to a fluid supply source and a removable and replaceable spray tip. The spray tip carries an externally mounted, elongated, tubular seal and biasing member which has an asymmetrical design, including an enlarged cylindrical downstream end and a rounded upstream end, configured for effecting radial and axial sealing forces upon engagement with seal a seating cavity in the nozzle body. The spray tip further includes radial camming and locking lugs having planar camming, detent, and locking surfaces which cooperate with the nozzle body for drawing the spray tip into mounted engagement, with the elongated sealing member interposed therebetween, as an incident to quick turn rotation of the spray tip and without the necessity for manually forcing the spray tip against the seal and biasing member.

    Abstract: A liquid spray module which can be individually used, or which can be easily mounted in ganged side-by-side relation with a plurality of such modules. Each module includes a spray gun cartridge having liquid passages through the liquid to be sprayed, is directed and one or more air passages through which pressurized air may be directed for assisting in atomization of the liquid and controlling operating movement of a valve needle. Each spray gun cartridge further includes a manifold body having a central bore into which the spray gun cartridge is removably mounted and liquid and air inlet and outlet passages which communicate with the liquid and air spray gun cartridge passages. The spray gun cartridge is removable from the manifold body without disconnection of fluid supply lines to the manifold body and without removal of the manifold body from a ganged mounted array of such spray modules.

    Abstract: A high-pressure liquid spray nozzle having an elongate nozzle body having a longitudinally extending liquid flow passage, which in the illustrated embodiment, is defined in part by a plastic liquid throttling and stabilizing insert.     Abstract: A spraying system having a plurality of spray nozzle assemblies mounted on a common liquid supply header. The spray nozzle assemblies each include a nozzle body fixed to the header and a spray tip secured to the body as an incident to rotation of the spray tip relative to the body. Each spray tip has an elongated discharge orifice adapted for emitting a flat spray pattern and is formed with radial gripping wings in aligned relation to the elongated discharge orifice which enable the user to know the orientation of the discharge orifice, and hence the orientation of the flat discharging spray pattern, prior to start up of a spray operation. The nozzle bodies further each are formed with at least one pair of indicator nibs, which when disposed in longitudinal alignment with the liquid supply header, automatically establishes an orientation of the spray tip elongated discharge orifice at a predetermined relative small angle to the axis of the header so as to avoid impingement of the discharging flat spray patterns of adjacent nozzle assemblies. An alternative embodiment of a spray tip has a slightly modified locking lug design for effecting mounting of the spray tip in the common body with the discharge orifice aligned with the axis of the fluid supply header. Further alternative embodiments include a spray nozzle with a swivel mounted adapter and quick disconnect spray tip, or with an adapter having a screw-in orifice defining insert for the particular spray application.

    Abstract: A gun-like spray device having a spray nozzle assembly at the discharge end and a reciprocatably movable valve needle for controlling the liquid flow through the discharge nozzle assembly. The nozzle assembly includes an orifice member which defines a liquid discharge orifice and a rigid valve seat for centering and precisely locating the valve needle in a closed position.     Abstract: A dual purpose nozzle for low pressure foam generating and high pressure fluid spraying including a nozzle body having inlet and outlet portions and defining a slide chamber and a mixing chamber, an inner nozzle is slidably mounted in the slide chamber and having an internal passageway for communicating fluid from the inlet portion to the outlet portion of the nozzle body, the mixing chamber terminating in an outlet discharge opening and the nozzle body having at least one inlet opening therein upstream of the outlet discharge opening for admitting air into the mixing chamber, the inner nozzle having a discharge end with a primary discharge opening therein generally aligned with the outlet discharge opening in the nozzle body, a spring is provided for biasing the inner nozzle in an upstream direction with the discharge end normally disposed above the air opening in the mixing chamber so that low pressure fluid entering the mixing chamber from the passageway draws air in through the air openings to generate a foam of bubbles and droplets which is sprayed from the outlet discharge opening of the nozzle body. Shoulders are provided on the inner nozzle for causing it to move downstream in the slide chamber and the mixing chamber against the bias of the spring when high pressure fluid is admitted to the passageway and discharged from the end thereof below the air intake openings and in close proximity to the discharge end of the nozzle body to form a high pressure fluid spray.
