摘要： A wireless communications device, and a method of operating a wireless communications device, the device operative to receive broadcast system information from a network, the device being arranged to: receive first broadcast system information, said first broadcast system information defining scheduling information for a plurality of items of further broadcast system information; define a subset containing a plurality of items of further broadcast system information; receive an item of further broadcast system information relating to whether transmit diversity is in use; when it is determined that the device has received further broadcast system information relating to whether transmit diversity is in use, wait until one of the following conditions has been met before implementing on the device any changes in transmit diversity as defined by the further broadcast system information relating to whether transmit diversity is in use: i) the device having received all members of the subset of further broadcast system information; or ii) the quality of a signal received by the device being determined to be below a threshold.

摘要： A method in a wireless communications device having a first protocol stack for use with a first radio access technology (RAT) and a second protocol stack for use with a second RAT, the first protocol stack comprising a reordering component associated with a first layer of the first protocol stack and arranged to implement a data reordering queue, the method for transitioning from the first RAT to the second RAT, the method comprising: determining that the device should transition from the first RAT to the second RAT; in response to determining that the device should transition, determining that data is present in a reordering queue implemented by the reordering component; sending the data present in the reordering queue to a second layer which is higher than the first layer; and attempting transitioning from the first RAT to the second RAT.

摘要： Apparatus and a method for handling out of service emergency calls in a wireless telecommunications system user equipment (UE) are disclosed. When an emergency call is initiated on a UE when the UE is in an out of service area, the UE in response to the initiating of an emergency call initiates a search for an acceptable cell rather than continuing with a search for suitable cells. The UE checks whether an acceptable cell is found. If an acceptable cell is found then the emergency call is connected.

摘要： A method and apparatus for taking measurements in a mobile telecommunications system are disclosed, the system comprising a network of a plurality of cells and at least one user equipment device. The method comprises, at the user equipment device, receiving a measurement control set-up command and, in response the user equipment device, setting up the measurements. Then it monitors for a change in state of the UE and, in response to a change in state, issuing a measurement control pause command and, in response, the user equipment device stopping taking measurements, and maintains the measurement settings initialised previously. The device then monitors for a change in state of the UE and, in response to a change in state, issuing a measurement control resume command and, in response, the user equipment device resumes taking measurements with the maintained measurement settings.
