    摘要: Embodiments of the present invention beneficially provide circuits and methods which isolate downhole electronics of a well pump assembly from a power surge. The pump assembly includes a motor and a housing, including head, base, and manifold plate. The head has a hollow interior and a shoulder. The head is mounted to the motor so that, in operation, oil from the motor fills the interior of the head. The base has an outside diameter to fit snugly inside the head. The manifold plate is located between an upper end of the base and the shoulder of the head so that the axis of the manifold plate is perpendicular to the axis of housing. A gauge circuit and an isolation circuit are mounted to the manifold plate. The isolation circuit includes active semiconductor elements to detect excessive voltage and to protect the gauge circuit from the excessive voltage.

This design allows Modbus hosts or similar SCADA polled technologies, such as a field bus that utilizes various industrial protocols to control instruments at and acquire instrumentation data from physically isolated installations. In particular, this design is well suited for applications such as oil well electrical submersible pumps. The data is communicated through, for example, a low Earth orbit satellite into a host communications gateway that simulates within a host computer environment the same polling registers that the data was collected from in the remote locations.

    摘要: The speed of a motor is varied in an electrical submersible pump well to analyze and avoid excessive vibration. A vibration sensor near the motor senses vibration in the well. The vibration of the assembly varies with many factors, including the length of the tubing, the locations of the packers, and the use of centralizers relative to the casing. The assembly has critical frequencies at which vibration increases to an undesirable level. These critical frequencies are determined and programmed into the variable speed drive so that they may be avoided. Avoidance of the critical vibration frequencies prolong the life of the downhole equipment, including that of the motors, pumps, seals, and sensors.
